If Kessel still played for Toronto...

Would the roster look different, as of today?

Also, would he have good chemistry with Matthews, Tavares, Marner, or Nylander? Assuming that one of them never got signed or drafted due to Kessel's contract?

Answering your question...

You would have been eliminated in 4 games...

Have a escape goat for the playoffs...

Hes horrible...don't ever mention his name again

Yeah like we did in 2013
That that team made it as far as they did on Kessel and Phaneuf. Add those 2013 versions or just Kessel and it's a win but we would also not have same team and that is so widely unknown as maybe we draft Hart because we don't have Anderson. We can all do that so many different ways.

No Kapanen directly from that trade. Perhaps no Andersen either as he was part of that trade tree. Don't think they approach that season the exact same way (signing a number of one year stopgaps), but unless they still finish last overall, no Matthews as well considering how the lottery played out. Maybe even no Tavares, if the available cap isn't there, and certainly not if the playoff "success" isn't. Tough to even fathom, as it doesn't seem like much of a realistic possibility.
