Connor and Roslo would both be a great fit for 3v3. I’m guessing that Maurice doesn’t want to put too much pressure on them and put them in a position to potentially fail and ruin the confidence he is building with both of them

Connor - Roslo - Ehlers would be interesting from a skating and puck control standpoint 3v3.

It seems to me they take an attacking mentality into OT when it seems patience pays off. It’s a totally different game 3v3. Gain the zone and move the puck around a bit and wait for high, high end chances. If not there back off and change the line.
And send Buff out as a 3rd or 4th option.

The Jet's need to play "low risk" hockey on 3 on 3 hockey. Buff pinched in this game against the Caps at the blueline, and it led to a breakaway by Kuznetzov and a goal for them.

It is to-- "high risk hockey", and we have to much talent to have to try and "panic win." This was a dumb play by Buff.

Also Ehlers, Roslo, and Connor should have been on the ice with 3 on 3 hockey-- simply because they cover a lot of open ice very fast. This is critical the Jet's use their "speed" as an advantage for 3 on3.

The name of the game on 3/3 or 4/4 hockey is getting possession, and keeping possession, then exercising patience until you have a "great chance to score." Speed gives you this option !!!

Statsny Laine Morrissey, Statsny Ehlers Morrissey, Statsny Wheeler Morrissey. When Scheifele comes back Scheifele Ehlers/Wheeler Morrissey. When Trouba comes back replace Morrissey with him.

Pretty easy, just maintain possession and don't shoot until it's actually a legit chance. With so much room out there is's pretty hard to lose the puck if you're simply moving into space and not isolating yourself.

just put all the finns there cause that's their game and style from the first place, Laine + Armia + some another euro guy would make perfect trio

The Jets play is so baffling at 3 on 3. Wheeler tries to squeeze by the defending player along the boards around the red line when he has clear possession of the puck, it leads to a turnover and the puck going the other way but thankfully no goal, dude it's 3 on 3 you have all kinds of space on the ice, just skate back into your own zone and break out cleanly rather than trying to force things along the boards. The Jets often play at 3 on 3 like it's 5 on 5.

Not bad, but I think they should try Stastny - Ehlers - Laine. Three forwards, two of them with ability to replace D when needed. Point is to gain and maintain possession and be really picky about when to shoot.

Don't play Wheeler next time. He is a great player, but sucks on the OT. He more often than not looks gassed out there, and he was directly responsible for Kuznetsov's breakaway goal by not covering for Buff. I bet he would stay on ice for the full 5 minutes and coasting hunched over on his stick if there was no stoppage of play.

having more open ice for a player like laine would benefit him

having a fast skater like ehlers on more open ice would benefit him more

there are other players on the jets would benefit more as well

I don't think little, buff and wheeler aren't them. they're 5v5 players

Some will say OT losses dont matter. It is quite feasible that our OT record will cost us home ice advantage against the Preds. That in itself could be the difference between cup finals and golf.

Isn't our overtime record 2-8 this year? If so, then that is 8 points left on the table for an offensively gifted team. A lot of our team is ideal for 3 on 3 hockey, but they don't get played.

Wheeler is too impatient with the puck to be that effective 3v3, tbh so is Ehlers, I know his speed would be a huge asset but he does some dopey things with the puck a lot. Can't understand why Morrissey and Connor don't see more 3v3 time, Perreault as well, he'd be a good option there with Laine.

Ehlers often retreats with the puck to maintain possession, even at 5 on 5, probably more than anyone else on the team. Can't see him abandoning that in OT.
