Graz also with a new goaltender. A bit surprising they would sign a prospect, now they have two goalies who are both 20.

Bratislava Capitals have a Covid case. The match between them and Dornbirn scheduled for Saturday will be posponed.

Yep. That one has always been geoblocked. I was hoping the paid ones wouldn't mind international customers.

That's strange. I'm sure the previous home games by Graz were streamed internationally, in fact the club was advertising the stream to British fans. I will look into it.

Games yesterday:

Linz vs Salzburg 3-6

The Black Wings were able to keep the game against a strong Salzburg team tight for a long time, but towards the end of the second period the superior depth of Salzburg finally proved too much. The visitors turned a 2-1 into a 2-4 within three minutes. In the last period both teams scored another to make it 3-5 before Salzburg added one more on an empty net goal. John Hughes and Dominique Heinrich had three assists each, Taylor Chorney scored two goals and new Buffalo Sabres draft pick John Jason Peterka had a goal and an assist. Florida Panthers pick Justin Schütz also had an assist.

Graz vs Innsbruck 7-5

The home team initially swept over an Innsbruck side that was way over its head defensively. After 15 minutes, the score was 4-0. Innsbruck changed goaltenders, but it didn't help much. Graz strolled to a 7-0 lead within the first 30 minutes (Anthony Cameranesi with 3 goals and 1 assist). Then they took the foot off the gas, which allowed Innsbruck to bounce back in the last period. Fighting with wounded pride, they scored five unanswered goals to reduce the score to 7-5. Neither coach can be happy with his team.

Fehervar vs Dornbirn 4-5 OT

Dornbirn started the game on the wrong foot and Fehervar raced to a 3-0 lead within the first six minutes. Then the visitors changed goaltenders and found their groove defensively. After 40 minutes, the score was still 3-1 but in the last period Dornbirn fought back and scored three times. Fehervar pulled their goaltender and managed to equalize. With 4-4 after three periods, the game went into overtime and Dornbirn scored another goal to win seal the turnaround.

Klagenfurt vs Villach 3-1

VSV created more offensively, but hit the post two times and had one goal disallowed as it came split-seconds after time had expired in the second period. KAC were limited offensively again and still scored three times against a defensively shaky Villach team. With 3 defeats in 4 games despite having one of the most promising rosters in the league at his disposal, Villach coach Dan Ceman is already under pressure.

Game today:

Bolzano vs Vienna (19:45 CET, 13:45 EST)

Two of the best teams in the league. At full strength Bolzano would be favoured to win, but they can only ice three lines and five defencemen right now, so it's hard to make a prediction.

The words over the red bull stream today...

"Es tut uns leid, der Livestream ist in Ihrer Region nicht verfügbar"

:madfire:

I hope it's different tomorrow but I really doubt it. Just last week it was not geoblocked. Someone decided to geoblock it.

How stupid is that? Why block people abroad from streaming? It's even more stupid with the streams they charge money for, but I don't understand it either way.

Game yesterday:

Bolzano vs Vienna 3-2

Vienna started well and went ahead 2-0 on two powerplay goals. They didn't do much for the rest of the game though and allowed Bolzano to take over. In the end the score was 3-2 for Bolzano and Vienna was lucky to not concede more goals. Afterwards the team was publicly called out by their angry coach Dave Cameron.

Games today:

Salzburg vs Klagenfurt (16:30 CET, 13:30 EST)
The home team is clearly favoured against a Klagenfurt team that has collected points but not played too well.
Livestream (free): link

Fehervar vs Linz (17:30 CET, 13:30 EST)
After three straight defeats, Linz needs some points. Fehervar is offensively dangerous but defensively shaky. They will have a hard time containing the top line of Linz with Lebler and Umicevic on the wings. Expect goals on both sides.
Livestream (€ 8,00): link

Innsbruck vs Vienna (17:30 CET, 13:30 EST)
The second destination on Vienna's trip to the west this weekend. After the weak showing in Bolzano, the Capitals should be fired up for this game. Innsbruck needs a much better defensive performance than in Graz if they want to avoid a beating.
Livestream (€ 6,90): link

Villach vs Graz (17:30 CET, 13:30 EST)
Graz has a lot of firepower, but seems to struggle to find the right balance between attack and defence. Villach are under pressure to deliver after 3 losses in 4 games. A solid win could silence detractors, another defeat on the other hand would lead to talk of a crisis.

Games last Sunday:

Salzburg vs Klagenfurt 4-2
Another good showing by Salzburg. They can rely on their first line (Raffl and Hughes centered by Schofield) and their powerplay to score and controlled much of the game. Decent performance by Klagenfurt (David Madlener with his first game after being injured), but at this point it's hard to still view them as contenders.

Fehervar vs Linz 3-1
Fourth consecutive defeat for Linz. Their high-scoring first line didn't score for a change and except for Will Pelletier (3rd goal in his 6th games) no-one else is stepping up. Fehervar, with a reduced roster for the last time, were very opportunistic and were able to make something of their Covid-stricken stretch (6 points in 5 games).

Innsbruck vs Vienna 1-6
The home team missed several good opportunities early on and then were outskated and outpassed by a Vienna side that didn't hesitate to bury their chances. The frustrated Innsbruck team again didn't keep their cool and had Braden Christoffer (game misconduct) and Felix Girard (match penalty) thrown out. Young Sebastian Wranschitz with a solid performance in goal for Vienna.
Update: Upon review by the Department of Player of Safety, neither Christoffer nor Girard will be suspended. The DOPS doesn't agree with either call of the referees. Quite a slap on their wrist.

both penalties were retroactively annulled. Quite a slap on the wrist for the referees!

Villach vs Graz 2-6
Graz (first game for Edmonton Oilers prospect Olivier Rodrigue) seem to have found their groove now. Villach had good stretches and created chances, but they are a little careless with the puck, not focused enough in defence and goaltender Alexander Schmidt conceded a few weak goals. The next weekend (games against Fehervar and Dornbirn) could be do-or-die time for the Villach coach.

Games at 19:15 CET (13:15 EST) today:

Dornbirn vs Vienna
Vienna is a good team, in particular offensively, but lately Dornbirn has been able to keep all of their games close. Should be another tight game. Andrew Yogan (first game) could add a scouring touch that Dornbirn has been missing.
Livestream: link (€ 6,90)

Innsbruck vs Salzburg
A dominant performance by Salzburg against a limited Innsbruck site is to be expected. The Red Bulls shouldn't struggle to win this one if they aren't wasteful with their scoring chances. Innsbruck will change their lines to stretch out the little depth they have.
Livestream: link (€ 6,90)

Villach vs Fehervar
Finally the Hungarian club should be able to ice a full roster. Villach on the other hand have two Covid cases (among them captain and #1 defenceman Jamie Fraser) and Pollastrone is injured, but with just 3 points out of 5 games time is on the clock for VSV coach Ceman. His club will either have to tighten up a lot or score much more than before against an opportunistic Fehervar team.
Livestream: link (€ 6,90)

Linz vs Bratislava
After four straight defeats, it's time for Linz to deliver. Hytönen (personal reasons) and Kozek (back issues) are out, but the scoring prowess of Lebler, Umicevic and Pelletier should be too much for a limited Bratislava team. Mitch Hults could give the Linz defence something to handle though.
Live on Sky Sport

Game at 19:45 CET (13:45 CET) today:

Bolzano vs Graz
Interesting match-up between two of the best teams in the league right now. Graz have a lot of offensive ability but lately have also improved defensively. Bolzano has a strong roster throughout, though I'm not sure whether all players are cleared to play now.

Games yesterday:

Dornbirn vs Vienna 0-4
A shock for Dornbirn: 90 minutes before the game they learned that both of their goaltenders are out with positive Covid tests! Their #1 center Rappuzi was also ruled out for the same reason. Third goaltender Felix Beck (18, first senior game) had to play. The rattled Dornbirn team took two periods off and Vienna got an easy 4-0 win.

Innsbruck vs Salzburg 4-1
One of the biggest upsets so far. The well-oiled machine that is Salzburg took the game too lightly and went through the motions without a lot of intensity. They still had dominant stretches, but got outworked by an Innsbruck team that fought tooth and nail. A frustrating game for John Jason Peterka who had a goal called back upon video review and who missed a penalty shot.

Villach vs Fehervar 3-5
Another failure for VSV (with Kristers Gudļevskis in net for the first time). They tried hard, but their passing game keeps falling short and the defensive work remains chaotic. Patience with the team is running out. Fehervar (with a full roster for the first time) were able to came back from a deficit three times, then went ahead 4-3, then scored on the empty net.

Linz vs Bratislava 2-5
Bratislava showed much improvement. Linz was over its head defensively against their fast attacks and didn't create much at even strenght (both goals were on the PP). Linz wasn't expected to have a great season based on the roster, but five consecutive defeats sting.

Bolzano vs Graz 2-3 OT
A close game between two good teams. Bolzano finally have a full roster, but nevertheless suffered their first defeat. On the other side Olivier Rodrigue played his first game in senior hockey. The game was decided early in overtime (3-against-3) by Oliver Setzinger who used the space to skated over the whole rink and score.

The livestreams weren't working properly yesterday by the way and customers can get a refund. Hopefully they will work tomorrow.

Game today at 16:30 CET (13:30 EST):

Salzburg vs Vienna
After two easy wins, Vienna is facing a much tougher test today. Salzburg should be fully up for the game, in particular after their upset defeat against Innsbruck.
Livestream (free): link

Games today at 17:30 CET (14:30 EST):

Fehervar vs Bolzano
Bolzano is one of the top teams in the league. Fehervar have fought valiantly so far, but won't be able to stop the visitors from scoring.

Livestream (€ 6,90): link

Klagenfurt vs Innsbruck
Both teams with mixed results so far. The difference is that Innsbruck wasn't expecting more while Klagenfurt was. Therefore will KAC change their forward lines and they have called up Daylon Groulx from the farm team. On defence Fredrik Eriksson is back after being ill, but David Maier and Niklas Würschl are both injured.

Games yesterday:

Vienna vs Salzburg 4-1
Good game by the home team, they outskated and outplayed a Salzburg team that again looked a little off. Vienna has three lines that are offensively capable, something very few teams in the league have right now.

Fehervar vs Bolzano 5-4
Once again Fehervar made good use of their chances. They went ahead 3-0 before Bolzano bounced back to make it 3-3, but the home team kept working hard and grinded out a win. Bolzano still has some work to do defensively.

Klagenfurt vs Innsbruck 2-1
With their new lines (Rok Tičar at center) KAC looked improved and created more offensively, though they still struggle a bit to make it count. Dennis Sticha scored his second goal of the season for the game winner. Off-ice unease: Klagenfurt club is the only club refusing to stream their home games. Their argument is that they need to fill seats. And yet, they only got an attendance of 900 (capacity: 1,500) for this game...
