I really hope you like this one. This is the first "sentimental" article I have done and I like to think I did Ian justice with it. Never knew the kid and I am going off of what everyone has said about him, but he was the next big thing to come out of the US in terms of hockey, and he was just a good kid. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. I really hope he gets through it.

It's really such a shame. He was going to be a star for the Knights, and a top NHL pick...

    Hope he pulls through.

I don't want to sound harsh but he's off life support for a reason, he won't pull through.

Really sad though. He was spouse to be really special.

You never know. There's always a chance, it's small but it's there. :(

My God, his parents must be absolutely shattered.

To any teens reading this board, please, stay safe, and take care of yourselves. Life is just too precious.

Sad day in Michigan. Sad day in the hockey world.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts in that piece, Shawn. It was tremendous to see the thoughts from some of his fellow hockey prospects like Max Domi who just couldn't say enough about him. Sure sounds like he was an outstanding young man.

    Rest in piece, Ian.

    R.I.P buddy.

very tragic news and shows just how precious life is. all my love to the Jenkins family through this insanely difficult time. forget the fact that he was an amazing goaltender, the world lost another great person way too early in life. absolutely terrbile news. God bless the Jenkins family and we will always remember Ian as a fighter to the end.

Such a horrible tragedy. Nevermind the effect felt throughout the hockey world, but just in terms of his family & friends. 15 year old athletically fit kids are NOT supposed to be buried by their parents. I really cannot express my condolences enough. I know how difficult it is to lose a friend so young, but his parents must be devestated.
RIP Ian. Thought are with your family & close friends.

This guy was going to be so good. Extremely sad, but how did he suffer this head injury?

E: Nevermind I read the news for the Knights. :(

When I began writing the article, there was absolutely ZERO intention of trying to get it on a MAJOR hockey site. The goal of this piece was to share how great Ian was as a person and a player and for friends of his to attest to this and try to make this as therapeutic for everyone who read it. I wanted as many people to view the article as possible. I found out a few hours ago, thanks to Chris Ralph who vouched for me and the article, that the article was post on Puck Daddy under the Puck Headlines. I want to thank Chris Ralph of Hockey Spy, Sean Leahy, Greg Wyshynski, Dmitry Chesnokov, and the rest of the Puck Daddy gang for getting my article up for thousands of fans to see. I am truly humbled by it and I think my goal has been achieved (to get the article out to the masses). Also wanted to thank all of you on HFBoards who took the time to read, enjoy, and reflect on what I wrote.

I hope I did Ian justice. It's a sad day in hockey.

I had to share this because it made me so bad & I knew you gents would agree.
I was moderating comments for Shawn's post on Jenkins. All were very positive and really appreciated the article and most of all devastated and shocked by this tragedy.

Then...I get this comment (that I obviously deleted without posting):
Disturbing to think of what such a person could make a comment like that. Of course, he posted it signed "anonymous".

Who'd like to line this guy up for a hip-check!!??

Why couldn't that kid who posted that be car surfing instead. Honestly, the nerve of some people. I guess having the power of anonymity makes people delusional. :shakehead

I'm 16 and don't have any idea what it would be like to lose one of my friends or teammates.

    Rest in Peace Ian.
