Alex Iafallo is built for playoff hockey, I doubt the Kings would want to part with him unless an overpayment is presented.

Rob Blake should find a solution to keep Iafallo on the roster while finding another way to shed salary.

No, thanks.

There is a portion of the Kings fanbase who values any movement as a positive and want to gain the dough to retain Gavrikov or bring in a new player, but Iafallo is just too valuable to be dealt as a cap casualty.

Rob Blake has burdened his team with a large collection of $4-5 million mid-range forwards and defensemen who are all very good players but not difference makers. They are a competent team who aren't advancing due to an aging group of top line players whose production just isn't on par with the competition. Its remarkable that Kopitar hit 70 at his age, but that is in the bottom third of prodiction of top line centers.

They are pushing the prospects they drafted to provide that cost-controlled offense into the league as role players in spots they are unfamiliar with while simultaneously cheating the pro roster of the value provided by veteran role players.Their first and fourth lines got caved in by the Oilers while the $4-5 million second and third lines are playing well.

Trading Iafallo isn't going to help that at all, its just rearranging one part of the successful portion of the team to bring another player of similar contribution.

The Kings need to keep their cap, take their lumps this year and finally play the kids in offensive situations that match their ability to see what they really have. Then use the approximate $20 million of cap next summer to bring in a top line impact player instead of committing more cap to another mid-range player on an extended contract now.

Well, thanks for the prediction, big boy! You tell 'em.

Now inform the rest of us know nothings who's going to win the cup next year. You got the knowledge, right?

I'd say a late 1st easy but with cap issues, it's more likely like 2nd + POJ
you arent getting a 1st for him.

what teams can afford him Taking his full contract against their cap?

see what Carolina gave up for Patches last summer. What Columbus got for Bjorkstrand?

You mean the kids call it hot takes, I’m guessing it means making a bold statement, there’s this whole other alternative English language I did not learn in grade school that these kids talk nowadays.

Blake has moves to make but I don’t see Iafallo being one of them, you could be onto something as the Kings may have to retool their roster as the playoffs may be out of reach next season.

Blake likes the Toffoli, 2nd & 3rd. If Pit needs to send cap back, price goes up a little.

King's have too many wings & need the cap space.

Guys.... Iafallo is not worth a 1st when the Kings needs cap space desperately.
A 2nd will do and both sides are happy.

Now we have to find people for Moore and Arvidson

Serious question

What are the chances of an Iafallo trade preventing a Iafallo, Kopi, Kempe line next year? I just can't see Blake moving our top line left wing.

Most likely you pair Iafollo with a RHD prospect on an extra level co tract so it’s a combined cap value .

To Pitts: Grans and Iafollo
To LA: 2023 1st and conditional 3rdif Grans plays 50 games in NHL

What's the deal with Grans?

Good playoffs, but $4M ~40pt wingers just don't hold much real value in today's cap-strapped NHL. Especially if they don't bring anything particularly noteworthy in terms of desired traits (ie. big, physical, blazing fast, PK specialist, etc).

Something like the original suggestion of a 3rd+4th or maybe a later 2nd seems pretty reasonable to me. Maybe it's a similar value prospect instead.

There are just too many other teams trying to clear up cap space of their own by moving middle-6 wingers right now. The league is awash in guys like that who are "okay value" for their contracts, but too many teams need those sorts of players on "below market rate" contracts to make the rest of their cap structure work. Especially if they want to field the sort of depth that we're currently seeing run the show with teams headed for the Finals.

He was unexpectedly highly annoying in the first round. Given that the Oilers and the Kings will probably be meeting up in the postseason for years, yes, please get rid of Iafallo.

enter arvidson
Viktor Arvidsson had a resurgence season, it might not be a bad idea to sell high on Arvidsson but he wasn’t apart of the Kings problems.

The Kings need size as it seemed like Edmonton were winning many of the puck battles especially later in the series, Anderson and Durzi weren’t very good defensively and the Kings 1st line of Byfield, Kopitar and Kempe were getting scored on more then they could score on the Oilers.
