I think this is a playoff team if....

Clearly, some posters don't realize that no matter the parity in the league, there's a certain threshold of a mix of on-ice and off-ice talent that is required to at least reach the plaoffs, and that the Habs are nowhere near that threshold.

And dont give me the Vegas example. We don't have Gallant.
But hey we have Cap space again this year. Guy was a knockout last year. One of our players not in the negatives. And he is still only costing us 8 million this season.

Are you getting some sort of satisfaction out of this at least?

The ultimate satisfaction will be when the team gets over the talent level Bergevin inherited and we can contend for a cup.

It's called delay of gratification. That's the step our ancestors took when they wanted to achieve long term goals.

In the present state of things, the only quick way out of it is to just let it slide. Even, help the slide.

That's why it's the best case scenario. It requires patience. Or not having a damn choice either.

Ok, I'm happy you seem to be happy, even if I don't buy it but whatever I guess))

The more I look at this roster the more certain I am they have no chance of making the playoffs.

Good, we need more talent, aren't you tired of seeing elite young players on all other teams? Even Ottawa has Karlsson , when is the last time we had a top point producing youngster?

I want a Laine/Matthews/Eichel type tired of the recycled players and mediocrity...

I wasn't complaining, just making an observation.

Folks on this board would have you believe our team is going to the playoffs because we have Charles Hudon as well. Don't forget that star power.

I like Hudon I really do but I just wish we had a forward superstar. Magician with the puck , point producing and young...I know I'm dreaming.

Right!!! Playoffs???

This team was already lacking scoring to begin with and has too many small forwards with a bunch of question marks. They need to prove themselves and this year will show what they are made of.

MB did nothing to address the scoring apart from trading a proven 20 goal scorer for a player with 9 goals of whom 4 were empty netters last year. Also, his specialty is getting a bunch of small forwards or grinders who bring nothing to the team apart "CH"aracter.

Gallagher scored 30 last year and I don't believe he can do it again. Domi surely will have more this year on a team that is less talented than Arizona. Let's not kid ourselves, only a guy named Mark Bergevin believes Domi can be a 30 goal scorer.

Pacces doesn't have a skilled forward to pass him the puck to score. This was the biggest factor as to why he didn't score so many goals last year. Don't expect him to score 30 again this year. He's got no top center or skilled winger to feed him the puck. He's most likely gone so the team dismemberment continues. I wonder how Bergevin will get another 30 goal scorer where he can even get top centers for the top lines.

Let's not forget about the mediocre D where besides Petry and Weber, there's nothing to rejoice about. You can play Alzner, Benn and Schlemko, might as well just save yourself the embarrassment and forfeit the game. Mete and Juulsen are still young and we can only hope they become great D for the years to come. Reilly probably becomes another Joe Morrow and is dealt for a pick.

Weber's injury ruined any chance the Habs had at making the playoffs next year. You can't expect Price to do miracles with Alzner, newcomer turnover specialist Ouellet, Schlemko, Benn and Reilly in front of him.

Seems to me Marc Bergevin forgot that in today's NHL you need to score to go deep in the playoffs.

Keep believing folks this team can make the playoffs. We just need to b e patient until they clean house and the young players they draft become success stories.

I have no doubt we will eventually find that player... and then proceed to trade him for displaying too much skill and not just playing defensive hockey. It's no longer a win 1-0 league and sadly we have no adjusted at all.
