honestly he looked decent in his time with the pens early last season

He looked playable early with the Pens but soon proved he was not an NHL player in my opinion. The Pens really had no center depth to start the season last year with McKegg and Rowney as the 3rd and 4th line centers. Now both could be no better than 7th best center on the Pens with Crosby, Malkin, Brassard, Sheahan, Cullen, and Grant all as center options for the Pens. JR really fixed that center depth quickly. Really believe McKegg is an AHL player and injury fill in at the NHL level.

I think he’s pretty clearly being brought in for the Checkers. The Canes might be weaker at center, but even here he looks probably 5-6 on the depth chart if we’re being generous.
