FWIW I've never seen them (GnR) but my uncle saw them during their Use your Illusion tour in Greensboro. Says the show kicked ass (Skid Row was the opening act and they killed it), they played something like 30 songs, but the crowd was wild. Like at point during a lull they were maybe 30 seconds from some serious shit (like people rushing the stage in anger) happening, lot of fist-fights, probably akin to the crowds at ECHL games in the 90's but much more out of control. My uncle went to a shit ton of concerts in the 80's and early 90's and said that's the most volatile crowd, concert/sports or what have you, he's ever been a part of. Probably not a suprise considering what happened in St Louis during that tour (the Greensboro show was something like 5-6 days earlier)

Where exactly do you live? (asking for a friend)

Zion, Kentucky. Not Little Zion, not Mount Zion, not New Zion. Just Zion. It's so small it doesn't even come up in a Google search.

If you can even find the place, you've earned whatever you take. The code on the doorknob is 1-1-2-2-3-3-#.

Please leave my stereo, it's the only thing I really care about

I did and the only map search that seems to even have the place "on the map", is Mapquest.

FWIW I thought you lived in Indiana, you or someone else I guess mentioned something about High School Basketball being a craze in your area so I guess my mind went to the movie Hoosiers. Though to be fair, Kentucky folks love them some hoops too.

I used to live in Indiana. Still work there. Moved just across the border.

Live video from downtown Zion:

What's funny is I used to live in Zionsville, Indiana so it's like I'm collecting Zions.

I must be a Zionist

yeah I’m going to tonight. Slash alone I figured was worth seeing as you don’t really lose your guitar chops, but hoping Axl’s voice is still great as well for more of a total performance
I'll be seeing them at MetLife (AKA Worst Stadium On Earth) on Thursday. Got a ticket for $45 and I've never seen them. Even if Axl's voice is shot it's like seeing Michael Jordan playing a legends game at 50 in that you can say you saw him play basketball.

Funny thing is, once upon a time I lived right across the river from Zion. I could have ridden a bike there. Course, that was over 30 years ago . . .

Really? Evansville, then?

small world, man

Yeah, 4 years with Bristol-Myers (Mead Johnson). I really liked my time there, but a lot of that was probably due to a great social network I found right away by joining a big company in a small city. Lots of alcohol involved in corporate sanctioned events, I'm sure things are very different today.

So while we're still struggling with Delta, now there's apparently a Delta Plus and a Lambda variant out there.

Any chance Covid could just...f*** off? We're tired of dealing with you and your spinoffs. You're the Law and Order of the viral world.

The marketing team that told the airline to go with Delta Comfort+ instead of just Delta Plus is toasting itself in a hot tub on a Hawaiian vacation right now.

The current variants of stupid in the wild are mutating fast and seem resistant to all treatments.

Holy shit… it has seriously never occurred to me that the anti-vax movement is viral, fast-mutating, highly resistant to conventional medicine, and ultimately fatal.

I’m not sure I can handle the depth of this irony right now.

Obviously the solution is to quarantine those who have been exposed so they can't infect others.

Well Mead Johnson is gone but the west siders do still love to booze it up. They throw a good hootenanny out there.

These people on 4th of July etc lose their minds, driving the Lloyd from downtown to the west side is like what I imagine driving through downtown Mogadishu. Sounds of massive fireworks bombs shaking your car, people firing shitty automatic weapons in the air, people getting hilariously stupid drunk and that’s before the real west side rednecks even show up later on because they had to stop and beat their wives first.

I may be slightly exaggerating, but only slightly
