It seems like a lot of companies don't want to invest in Cary and are running away. What's wrong with that town? High taxes or some other similar issue? I love going to Dave and Buster Wednesdays when it's half off.

Part of it is just that the edge of the Triangle has grown beyond Cary. The cost-efficient real estate is farther out, in places like Apex and Fuquay. Cary was already kind of posh to begin with, but now it's taking on the added "closer to town than most places" price bump. From a business standpoint, that makes it kind of tough to justify going in unless you know you're going to make a killing.

In IKEA's case specifically, though, it's because big box retail is in bad shape and the company decided to cancel a whole bunch of new locations.

The hipsters are going for craft furniture nowadays.

I wish this picture was a joke. But it's not.

Dang I really need to get into this furniture-for-hipsters business. I can chop down some trees from my backyard and make a killing. Put a small shop downtown Raleigh , we have a lot of hipsters in Raleigh and surrounding areas.

On the subject of Dave and Busters, check out their list of "premium" beers:

"Premium" is in that category of words like "premiere", "special", and "supreme" which in the marketing world can be added to literally anything and mean absolutely nothing.

Best example of this sort of thing is the list of options on an automatic car wash. Add $3 to your Premium wash and you get the Supreme wash (ie a tire rinse).
