They'll probably have to let the storm squad go to afford Waddell
Dammit. Girls gone Wild.
See...this is another example of why Dundon doesn't think his GM should be highly paid...he just lets the other teams' GMs do all the negotiating for him.
That man is a seagull.
I bet on Fridays he packs his family into a car and they show up at some acquaintance's house and expect to get fed on their expense.
Unlimited Carolina BBQ and ice cream from the arena concession stands
So here you go. Proof is in the pudding. Waddell wanted a contract and Dundon wasn't offering one until his hand was forced as many of us speculated despite Dundon saying he could have one of he wanted one after Waddell already interviewed for another job.
Waddell wanted one before the interview but apparently since Dundon had all the leverage, he wasn't offering.
With Don Waddell backing out of GM search, where do Wild go...
We've been over this, but because you either forgot, or just choose not to listen...
From the already posted article Waddell 'not going anywhere' as Hurricanes general manager, owner says
That article came out after Waddell interviewed in Minnesota. Clearly as Waddell was quoted today, he wasn't seeing eye to eye with Dundon on the contract situation. The Wild forced Dundon's opinion to change plain and simple, as Waddell just said.
Zero reaction. Chill AF.
I guess considering how often it happens, people just get used to it.
lol ok, whatever helps you sleep at night
Your GM said it himself.
Speaking of things our GM said himself. Lets also throw in one our owner said himself.
you don't worry so much about those things, the logistic part. It will all get taken care of at the end of the day. - Waddell
If he wants one (a contract), he can have one if he asks for one - Dundon
Yeah this article makes the whole situation clear. Waddell got what he wanted in the end and Dundon had to sign him to a contract, even though he doesn't believe in them.
Minnesota interview them too?
They interview anything Southern US now as revenge for the North Stars trade to Dallas.
Do we know anyone who's from Dallas?
Dundon does something different.
Many non-Canes HF posters:
Waddell once again uses Minnesota.
And @TaLoN what part of Dundon's quote...
"If he wants one [a contract], he can have one if he asks for one".
....do you not get?
Dundon was on the NHL network last night and essentially said the same thing. More importantly, he said he knows he does things differently and he's comfortable with how things are working out. As a Hurricanes fan who just enjoyed our first trip to the post-season in a decade....me too!
Damage control after his contactless GM that clearly wanted contract, interviewed for an unexpectedly open job.
There is a similar situation in Boston. I think there's a youtube channel for it too
We missed a GDT opportunity.
However, I'm afraid on the scale of "We annoyed the Canes owner by making him pay Aho a big signing bonus" and "We annoyed the Canes owner by making him give his GM a contract" your part is the lesser.
The Montreal board is thataway if you'd like to get together and celebrate your, uh, victories
Technically I guess the winner would be the one whose contract ends up being of worse value.
Aho's is a lot in absolute money, but if Waddell like totally bombs that's the signing that will sting Dundo while Bergy keeps getting an annual fruitbasket.
Yes, but Tom Dundon so cheap that Waddell's annual compensation is also a fruit basket. Apples and bananas only, citrus is pricey this time of year.
This is the one I was thinking about. This one might be worse:
Oh, and Tom Dundon's so cheap he won't raise the 11' 8" bridge.
