He's fine lol. Good to see the canes go on a run, but no team with 890 goaltending is going to make the playoffs in today's league.
He may be fine now in Calgary, but he certainly wasn’t last year. Even John Forslund said the players had tuned him out by seasons end and attributed it to Peters trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

That doesn’t mean he won’t be good in Calgary though. Some Coaches learn, adapt and improve as they move on. Pete Carroll in the NFL is an example.

Can't downplay the fact that Bill Peters didn't do this team any good. The talent was there. Peters' system was garbage.
I think they are still playing Peters system, but Rod is allowing a bit more flexibility and room for some creativity and errors. Like a good racehorse, some times you have to loosen up on the reins to allow them to really get out there and run.

Hard to say, October can be such a strange month for a lot of teams. Don't think their division is nearly as strong as it usually is so if they can start taking points off of the Pens and Caps I'll begin to believe. They really are playing with great tempo, tons of pressure in every zone and a lot more net drive than I've seen from them in recent years. Aho is looking like he's got another level to reach.

I don't have a dog in the fight, but I'd take Jones over Slavin.
I do have a dog in this fight and I'd take Slavin over Jones. Jones has more offensive production (much of it on the PP), but he get significantly more O-zone starts, gives the puck away at significantly higher levels, and gets the puck taken away at significantly higher levels. While I don't see Slavin's offensive game growing to that of Jones's, Jaccob's producing more and more in that area as well.

I don't think they'll last playing this well all year, but they're an improved team, and may make the playoffs.

It was only a matter of time. They have a lot of good young talent.

I do'nt think so. I think you'll find Slavin over Jones is a minority opinion to say the least.

Jones is a top 10 dman in this league, close to maybe top 5. Slavin is not close to that.

Man its okay cane fans, your team isn't the globetrotters, no need to be defensive about it. Your team just isn't better than Columbus.

I think they are, as of this season. They need something long-term in net but if you exclude that position I'd take Carolina over Columbus.

They're a good team. I don't really trust the goal tending in the long term but one of the best D's in the league and their forward group is a bit underrated, they're closer to the middle than to the bottom. They've got some really good teams in their division so it will be a test. Bubble team IMO.

That’s a pretty poor response to the post you quoted. He’s giving a rational reason for his opinion.
Really? an opinion is a rational take? my god the insecurities on here are getting insane. I don't think your team is better, tough shit who cares. If you've posted 3 times about this you clearly aren't all that confident in your team either. Big deal, don't let it ruin your night big boy.

FWIW, Mrazek’s game last night was the first time that he’s looked particularly good. The goaltending improvement has been more a matter of adding McElhinney and Darling being in the press box injured.

Goaltending continues to be a huge x-factor which will either save or sink their chances. The skaters in front of them have been greatly improved and it looks sustainable. Doubt they stay at the top of the division, but they should be in the playoff race.

This right here. Canes D is stellar and their forward group is above average. Will be interesting to see what may happen is Svechnikov is moved into the top 6, kid has talent.

Goaltending will tell the tale and I honestly believe they’re going to have to make some kind of move. They have 3 backups, no starter. I think they make the playoffs as is but are a 1st rd bounce if they don’t upgrade at G.

So just to be clear, you think I’m the one that’s upset right now?

People tried to engage you in a discussion. You threw a fit. It’s weird. Stop.

Don't think the goaltending can hold up, and I don't think they'll continue to outscore that problem. I do like their team, though - definitely a club on the rise!

Goaltending is (rightfully) a reason to be skeptical. But I'm more worried about special teams. Canes have been mostly dominating teams 5v5 to the extent that even with bad goaltending they should be alright. The special teams goal differencial is atrocious though

EDIT: and already tonight, the only team that has scored on a Carolina PP, is Tampa. Yikes
