Looks like he is leading the KHL and scoring and is 26 years old. I know it’s a weak league; most of the other players leading that league in poimts seem to be in their 30s.

But when you check out his highlights he could very well have as much or more skill than anyone currently on the VGK roster.

What sort of impact would he have over here? A big one like Panarin or be more of a dud like Kovalchuk when he came back or somewhere in between?

Shipachyov seems to have problems no matter where he is.

    Panarin, Dadonov and now Gusev?

Wake up Edmonton Oilers! You need a winger?

You could work out an in conference trade, couldn't you? I think that's why Vegas selected Garrison and sent him to the AHL so they could always retain this guy's rights.

Could be the next Panarin but even if not i think a top 6 winger for sure. Kovalchuk is old and heavy body so that's not really a solid comparison.

He's got NHL level talent, speed, elusiveness and high confidence in himself. I think the current NHL fits him better than the league maybe 5+ years ago.

He is going to be 27 next summer so the guy is in his prime and should be able to jump right in.

Don't know where he'd play in Vegas though. They already have Marchessault and Pacioretty on the left side and Gusev needs offensive guys to play with. I guess they could go with 3 scoring lines.

Why not like Panarin and Dadonov?

Gusev is arguably equal if not better than Panarin

He could start off on the third going Gusev - Eakin - Pirri. And then work his way up.

Haula probably has a spot over Pirri though, not sure if Gusev/Pirri on the same line would be something the coach would like to see defensively.

So if it's Gusev - Eakin - Haula, looks fine on paper but that doesn't really give Gusev a solid chance to produce, he's a playmaker who can make stuff happen on his own but also could use a scorer.

They could just play whoever is going at any given time in the top 6 and drop the worst performing winger to the 3rd line, doesn't matter who it is.

Not including Haula because there's no time frame on when he'll be back, nobody knows if he'll even be back this season. Pirri is Vegas' top goalscorer right now, 8 in 11. Eakin has 13, which is only 2 away from the team leading 15, and he's pretty solid defensively.

He's currently 3rd or 4th in KHL scoring IIRC.

LOL Why would he ever want that? He is the most talented AND established guy outside the NHL for now. If any NHL team offers him to start of on the 3rd line he should simply tell them to shove it.

If you think it's a weak league you might want to check some stats of current NHLers in that league.

Gusev is a talented playmaking winger. Small but very slick and with great hockey sense. He has the tools that today's NHL needs actually. The biggest problem for him is being Vegas property. GM with a history of mailing it in with a KHL UFA. Not enough offensive talent to work with.

Was the NHL a weak league last season because 7 of the top 11 scorers were into their 30’s?

I hated that we moved his rights. He should be playing with Kucherov.

That line would score like 5 times more goals than the rest of your forwards.
