I heard this question posed on Spittin' Chiclets, and I thought it'd be interesting to see people's impressions of a combined Habs-Sens roster (taking into account that both teams are in a transitional/rebuilding period). I've debated this with some buddies, and I wanted to open it up to further discussion.

Drouin-Duchene-Stone
Domi-Danault-Gallagher
Dzingel-Tierney-Ryan
Tatar-Plekanec-Boedker

Chabot-Weber
Mete-Petry
Alzner-Ceci

Price
Anderson

Let me know if I've omitted anyone that should be here or if any player looks out of place and I'll make the suggested changes.

Still not a playoff team. Especially considering Weber is out for awhile.

Disagree with player choices and where you put them but you could make a contending team out of the two rosters unless neither Price nor Anderson can work their way back to at least average.

It’s pretty hard to combine any two rosters and not make at least a playoff team. Every team has at least a few star players and some quality depth or middle of the lineup guys.

This would be a playoff team, D and C might be too thin to be a contender.

Without Weber (and maybe even with), that’s the worst defense in the league.

To make the playoffs in the East I have:

Atlantic:

Tampa
Toronto
Boston

Metro:

Pitts
Washington
Columbus

Wildcards:
Florida
Philly

I don’t see that team as being better than either Florida or Philly

Toronto and New York Islanders say hold my beer

I would definitely take that D over our current D. I prefer Rielly to every player listed but the rest seem like upgrades until you get to Alzner:

Chabot-Weber
Mete-Petry
Alzner-Ceci

Why would you even count Weber's injury?

Kinda pretty obvious that in the scenario op created, you ignore contracts and injuries

Let's see.........

Horrible down the middle...CHECK
Horrible at LW...CHECK
Mediocre at RW...CHECK
Horrible on D(Weber's not even back for 4 months yet)...CHECK
Mediocre in goal...CHECK

Bottom-feeder for sure.

Check-Mate.

Even merging that team the D makes me cringe Probably a bubble team, I could see them making the playoffs if Price is at least average

Bubble team although its a solid team. Not nearly as bad as everybody's making them sound. I think they're capable of competing with Florida for that 8 spot. If New Jersey can make it so can they. Price having a solid team in front of him could bring him back to his old self, and if that's the case, they have a damn good chance.

I think ( not that I want tho) Habs alone will be a bubble team. They will surprise HF who thinks they are bottom 5.

Having Tatar, Plekanec, Ryan, Boedker instead of guys like Tkachuk, Byron, Lehkonen, Pageau will for sure weaken your line up.

Alright, maybe it was a bit of hyperbole. But I still think that’s a bottom-5 defense. Maybe bottom-10.

You could probably merge the Canucks in there and they still wouldn't be higher than a 5th seed.

I actually think a Sens-Nucks roster looks pretty good.

Boeser-Duchene-Stone
Peterson-Horvat-Baertchi
Dzingle-Gaudette-Eriksson
Tkachuk-Tierney-Beagle

Chabot-Tanev
Edler-Ceci
Wideman-Boro
