It’s over when teams give the season ticket money back. If you hear this is happening (not about to happen, may happen etc.) then its over.

If the rumours of the NHL springing back to life are annoying to you, or are interfering with your natural grieving process (Kubler-Ross’s five stages: Denial, Anger, More Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance, Replacement Players) then just stay away for a few more days. By then either the NHL/NHLPA will have a joint press conference to talk about their new partnership, looking anything but partner like, or the season ticket money will start flowing back to the fans, for use in developing emotional and addictive ties to another avoidance-of-real-life pastimes, such as porn collecting, online poker, basketball, and fishing. Whatever it is, remember it beats work and welcome to this weekend!

P.S. Sorry for starting a new thread – please add this to the “Rumors Are Starting To Fade†thread that was so predictive and informative.

So, which HFBoard Members went and got their money back for season tickets?

If there's a season, I will publicly issue a series of laughters in a packed arena.

Season ticket holders who have monies deposited with the Pittsburgh Penguins may choose from these options following the announcement of the cancellation of the 2004-05 NHL season:

• Keep your deposit with the Penguins and earn interest at 5 percent. You also will earn “Penguins Cash,†which can be used to purchase additional tickets for home games next season. The amount of “Penguins Cash†earned will be 10 percent of all monies on deposit for season tickets.

• Have all monies refunded. Refunds will be processed within seven business days of receiving a written request.

Hmm, Detroits was 10 business days.

That's pretty standard stuff. They have to give themselves time to process the request, there likely would be many requests at that, and most corps do not cut checks more than once a week.

I was looking at Cher tickets for a friend (did you know Cher is blond now? - do you know how long her "farewell tour" has lasted? - do you know when her next farewell tour will be? - do you care at all about Cher? - okay, you don't, sorry about that) at the quite empty Corel Centre, when I noticed the Sens are still selling season tickets: http://www.capitaltickets.ca/senators/

So they are good to go... just add water, freeze, and throw some Sens and Leafs on the ice.

I said this in another thread.
Once the refunds in the mail, the logistics of starting up again are going to be very formidable.

Bruins:

"We had a very successful renewal campaign last summer with 7.7% interest paid on your deposit. We renewed over 90% of our season ticket base, which in a situation like this, we thought to be very significant. So we went with our strength, and what we decided to do is double that interest rate going forward, beginning on May 1st we will double the interest rate to 15%. We’ll encourage our fans to stick with us, and we’ll continue to provide all the opportunities we can for entertainment. We’ve been talking to them regularly via email about other entertainment opportunities and giving them access to other games. But we’ve also made a commitment internally that we will freeze prices when we do start playing. And that’s another commitment that the season tickets holders will receive. And thirdly, we’ve also committed that we will give each one of the season ticket holders 10 free tickets when we do begin playing."

Sure, office glen. Sure.
For a friend.
Actually yes, since I had an AmEx card and she didn't - they were running one of those front-of-the-line promos but the only tickets were at the back-of-the-arena. When she said she wanted to go hear the music, I pointed out that Cher's show was a Vegas-style over-the-top entertainment spectacle, one of the very best of this sort, and music was given short shift (hockey reference free of charge) to the many custome and wig changes. You would have to hitch up some wild horses (or some strong strippers) to get me to go to a Cher concert, though with the Village People opening one gets to hear that gay-subtitled YMCA once again, and how often does that happen? - okay, anytime that anything has a DJ it seems.
