I'll have some of whatever that guy is drinking/smoking :biglaugh:

How in the name of the wide world of sports can you even begin to think up those numbers the way this Olympics has gone down so far? :)

You're joking, surely.

Right?

Haven't we learned that this tourney has already defied logic? The Czechs have struggled. The Canadians have struggled. The Slovaks are undefeated. Selanne is on a tear. So what, good sir, gives you the slightest bit of reason to think that your predictions will come true?

Unless, because this tourney has defied logic, you think that by predicting Canada's elimination, that team will, in fact, proceed to claim first place. ;)

Yeah, gotta admire his gumption

I'm hoping for something more like this:

QF
----
Finland 4, USA 1
Czechs 3, Russia 2
Sweden 3, Swiss 1
Slovakia 3, Canada 2

SF
----
Czechs 4, Finland 0
Slovakia 3, Sweden 2

Gold: Czechs 4, Slovakia 3
Bronze: Sweden 3, Finland 0

Without Hasek, I doubt we'll (you're Czech too, right?) be able to stop Ovechkin and Kovalchuk for sixty minutes.

wait wait wait

Teemu Selanne is leading the entire tournament in points/goals, and somehow in the SF/Finals Finland will be shut out twice in a row?

no way

I said it's what I'm hoping, not predicting.

However, the Russians, Finns, and Swedes are known for hammering teams in the prelims. If Czechs and Russians meet, it should be a great game... the last two medal round meetings were 1-0 games: Czech won gold medal game in '98, and Russia won QF game in '02. Russia was outshot (and outplayed) in both games, including 41-17 in 2002. The best performance in either game by a goalie was Khabibulin in 2002.

And if it ain't Kovalchuk, Kovechkin, and Datsyuk... it's Bure, Fedorov, Yashin, etc.
Both teams have some dangerous players and good goalies, so it would be classic.

First, if scoring goals in the preliminary round determined outcomes in the medal round, then Finland would meet Russia in the gold medal game almost every year.

Second, I don't think anyone will shut out Finns, but I'm hoping if Czechs meet them they exact some revenge from the prelim round, so I took liberty on the score.

He has scored an absolute majority of those goals against blueberry teams. That doesn't prove so much.

I would bet money on it that USA will defeat the Finns if they meet .. and it looks like this.
Too typical situation - one of the high flying underdogs fail in the knock out round .. This time it goes down to Slovakia and Finnland ... one of them takes the plane after the quarters - for sure

Then again, he has scored a goal in every match he's played so far, including the game winning goals against the Czechs and Canada.

:handclap:

Blueberry soup is very traditional food
in Finland since the dawn of time.
It's best served hot, sort of like what
Selanne and the entire FIN first line is
now.

Selanne vs your BlueBerry teams 4+1
Selanne vs your nonBB teams 2+1

If we ask the CAN and the CZE
Selanne vs BlueBerry teams 2+0
Selanne vs nonBB teams 4+2

:handclap:
