Not interested UNLESS i'm getting something back of equal or more value (in Leafs terms not League's)
-Matthews
-Rielley
-Sandin
-Robertson
-Muzzin

You better give me a reason not to hang up the phone quickly
-2020 1st round pick
-Nylander
-Hyman
-Campbell
-Micheyev
-Tavares (assuming he'd waive his NMC for the deal)

I'm Listening
-Marner
-Holl
-Dermott
-Andersen
-Johnsson
-Engvall
-Lillegren

Please take them off my hands for something reasonable
-Gauthier
-Kerfoot

Tried to be as fair as I could be...there are some that I just couldn't put my bias aside on (Marner) overpaid for what he brings as such if we could get out from under that contract for something quite reasonable (not pennies on the dollar in term of value) then I'd be willing to listen...nobody is untouchable for the right deal nor should they be

It's a golf club...just a little banter with some fans of mine that follow me around and harass me on this site.
I don't follow you, my virginal visit to your board. The avatar was easy to find. My first, and I have been here a while. When can I rid rid of this dumb thing? Tampa won it all, it is over. Please?

I would not put Matthews in the untouchable category.!!!.

He can walk at the end of his final year of his contract and our Leafs can't trade him if he is unwilling to re-sign during his final year.

I think you listen to offers on him, and if you get blown away, you trade him before he gets to leave with nothing to show for having had him.

That NTC in the final year of his contract speaks volumes to me about his desire to choose his next team exclusively. He doesn't want to have to report to another NHL team temporarily on his way to signing with his hometown Arizona Coyotes. I bet this has already been Bettman approved.!!!.

JMHO.

Thank God you aren't GM , you do not trade your franchise center unless he forces it

Nobody is untouchable... , maybe improbable, not likely to happen. You wouldn't do McDavid for Matthews? It falls under the category, it better be one hell of an offer, but you listen to everything.

There is absolutely no realistic trade offer that could be made that I would even consider

These are the most important players on the Leafs
1. Matthews
2. Marner
3. Muzzin
4. Hyman

Hyman is the most under rated Leaf. The only one with pushback, a playoff style of hockey. Yes id rather trade Reilly or Nylander than lose Zac Hyman.

As a GM, you would be negligent in your job. You always listen, and reserve the right to say No Thanks, with the internal thought, that you aren't ever going to hear anything that would make you trade him. These are incoming calls. But... I'd also beg to differ... for example, NYR could put together a win now trade, for both Matthews and Rielly... and we'd be best to listen to it.

no they couldn't to get both they'd have to gut everything they have in terms of picks and prospects, maybe even create holes in their team.

that trade would destroy them, VERY quickly

The probability a trade like this happens, is VERY small... pretty much just fantasy stuff... but to say, it creates holes in their roster... I'd say no.... They lose two picks, and one prospect... It hurts (as it should), but it doesn't kill them.

Rangers main weaknesses... C and LD.... enter Matthews and Rielly.

Yes, it would gut their prospects and picks, but would make for a very strong NOW team.

They have great strength at RD.... so we get Fox. WE have Muzzin, Dermott, Sandin and Lehtonen as possibilities for the Left side still... so it's still pretty strong.

WE get both 2020 1st round picks, Strome whom they no longer need, Miller and Georgiev, plus Fox.

So they lose Strome, Fox and Georgiev from their roster, and replace them with Matthews and Rielly. Hardly creates holes in their team....not the roster anyway, makes it far stronger NOW.

Here is what the Leafs end up with.... is that weaker than now?

The willingness for people here to trade Marner never ceases to amaze me, that guy could win a scoring title soon.

It's sad how that contract negotiation and the proceeding cap hit tarnished his rapport with the fans and media.

Yes because Ryan Strome and Matthews are not even close

Also Faska is now magically a Leaf.

And somehow they have 3 NHL goalies.

Robin Lehner is not signing in Toronto for that.

This roster makes no sense

Yes, that roster is terrible.... LOL Seriously, I swear, people have blinders on, with no vision.

Yes trades happen yet, it appears you gave up nothing for him.

Why are there 3 NHL goalies

That doesn't work

Bottom line is, short of getting Mcdavid, which would never happen.

Trading Matthews makes you worse.

Many teams have had 3 NHL goalies on their roster... such as the NY Rangers...

Clearly, I gave up something for Faksa.... if you analyze things, some current roster players are gone... imagine that... they didn't get vaporized... maybe, they got traded!!!!!!!!

Frankly, I don't think this roster is worse, than what we iced this past year... I guess your opinion differs... but.. hey.

Realistically untouchable:
Matthews
Marner
Tavares
Rielly
Muzzin
Nylander

Make it quick:
Mikheyev
Hyman
Robertson
Sandin
Liljegren
15th overall
Kerfoot
Holl
Campbell
Andersen (although it depends on the market).

Serious chance:
The rest

3 of the 4 options are listening.

They vary by being more or less eager to find a trade - obviously we would be more open to options for Kerfoot than we would Muzzin. There are a few key players I am interested in seeing this distinction for.

Some interesting responses. Not sure if marner result is surprising or not.

Call at the deadline is really dependent on where the Leafs are at the deadline.
