Are there any players who have been bottom six main stay players that have been their teams captain? Not talking about a player that was a displaced top six player that was pushed down the lineup or regulated to the bottom six. But players that were always lower six players and wore the "C". Anyone?

Kind of curious, but why is this on the Pens forum? I feel like other teams fans would probably be able to weigh in better than just Pens fans.

As far as the Pens go, Ron Schock captained the team in the mid 70s and was solid third C behind Apps and Larouche (after he was drafted).

Historically quite a few, best player as captain is a recent phenomenon. A lot of captains were 3rd line center shut down guys. Charbonneau and Gainey in Montreal, Terry O reilley in Boston. Seems like every sutter was a 3rd liner and a captain somewhere

Do third pairing defensemen count? Todd Simpson was the Flames captain at one point.

Tyler Wright with the Jackets, is a forward example.
