How good will Anthony Mantha become?

To end last season Mantha had 15pts in 8 games to finish the season with 25G-48pts in 67 games.

In the WC he had 7G-14pts in 9 games.

His first two games this season he has scored two highlight reel goals and has 5pts in his first two games (still more to be played in the 2nd game)

This is a guy who is 6’5, 225pds with very good speed and an incredible shot.

He was viewed as a potential 40+ goal scorer after his 81goals in 81 games in the QMJHL.

Can he stay motivated (has always been the issue with him) for a full 82 games and avoid injury this season and be a PPG candidate?

Edit: ended up with a 4 goal game and now has 5G /7pts in his first 2 games this season.

I think so. The key with Mantha is consistency it seems. Hopefully his health will stay, he will get in a rhythm, and then I can see him being a PPG player over the full season. He has a great shot, and is a natural goal scorer. Plus the size of him (like you mentioned), he could become a real force to be reckoned with. It really is a shame that Detroit only has one legit scoring line. It just means Mantha and Larkin and Betuzzi will see top shutdown pairings constantly.

Detroit was lucky he was still available when they picked. Really wanted the leafs to grab him but was taken one spot before. We ended up with the GOAT who is barely a 4th line center lol

He should dominate but always goes invisible for periods of times throughout season. I'll be very curious how good of season he has... I really dont know

Mantha has now 38 points on his last 22 hockey games.

NHL season-ending, 8 games, 8+7 = 15 points
WHC Canada, 9 games, 7+7 = 14 points
NHL-preseason, 3 games, 4+0 = 4 points
New NHL season, 2 games, 4+2 = 6 points
---------------------------------
Total, 22 games, 23 goals, 15 assists = 38 points.

Said it in the thread about the wings first line but Mantha has every tool you need to be an elite scorer. Hes got a really hard shot with a really good release, hes fast, hes massive, hes strong, he can stick handle and he has good hands around the net. The only thing thats ever held him back is his consistency. Hes always taken a couple years to get accustomed to new leagues and tore up after that though so maybe this will be his big "figure it out moment" this season and he'll be dominant.

He's already 25 so how good can he realistically become? Perhaps he's a sleeper or perhaps his curve has been slower due to his size (never realized how big he is). Or maybe this is the best he's ever going to be.

Lucky? They traded down in the draft to get him because they knew he’d be available (also got Bertuzzi with the extra pick). Holland knew exactly what he was doing.

Lucky is winning one of the lottery spots (looking at you, Tampa), which hasn’t happened for the Wings ever since the draft lottery was put into place.

Sharks could have both Mantha and Bertuzzi, but no, they just had to have Mirco Mueller LOL

Moot now but, was hopeful CHI coulda somehow used the #3 in a package to get him.
Mantha w/ Toews & Kane a 300pt line.
Not sure what it would've taken - of anything could've - but certainly looks like the guy has arrived.
