How Equipped Are We To Visually Evaluate Hockey Games?
One common criticism of non-traditional statistical evaluation of hockey is that, unlike baseball which is largely a series of isolated duels between batter and pitcher, hockey is a free-flowing, continuous run of action. That’s true: at any point in a hockey game there are ten skaters moving as fast as 20 MPH often in different directions. It’s certainly much tougher for statistics to evaluate a sport designed like that, but the same is true for your eyes and brain.
