Come on guys the only reason we did not make the playoffs this year was the piss poor
shootout performance this year. Yes people had sub par years but they would mean nothing if we win half those shootouts. With the league so balanced you better PRACTICE and plan for shootouts. Meaning if you have 2 forwards of equal value keep the player with success in shootouts. In fact place some intangible value of shootout players in FA or trades. You see teams getting a player because they are good on the PP but never heard anyone get a player due to the fact they are good in shootouts.

I know people poo poo shootouts but like it or not it makes a difference and the Kings better pay attention instead of passing it off as luck.

Yep.. say it another way - every team needs solid fundamentals and good luck... the Kings had plenty of the former and zero of the latter this year. You need a little luck.

96 points (again) was what you needed to make the playoffs this year. Kings fell a little short. The Kings had the same record in 2012 as they did this year (that was good enough for the playoffs in 2012) and won the Cup. Gotta get in.

Hopefully next year the Kings don't wait until February to start playing Kings Hockey.

Agreed. And hopefully next year our Top 6 defenders don't miss 120+ man games for assorted reasons. The backbone of this team is its defense and defensemen play a major role in that.

I'm not disagreeing with you but that doesn't really help when you have guys that historically had gotten it done in the SO suddenly all simultaneously go 0 for forever (Carter, Stoll, Kopitar, etc.)
