I had to hear non-stop about William Nylander. Kid looked fantastic last night and barely played 13 minutes.

Do you guys feel our issues in the DZ after faceoff losses is more to do with the talent we have out or moreso tactics based? For what it's worth analytics have shown that we're better on the left side of the DZ rather than the right.

I feel a right-shot centre and a right-shot defenseman would help with the bang-bang plays we make off of a rare faceoff win.

When you look at improving this team with the deadline coming, this seems to be the big issue. We allow too many shots against in our DZ off of faceoff losses.

New defence pairings are stupid, no doubt Hainsey isn't a top 2 defensemen.

HOWEVER, there is a potential bright side
if Dermott shows he can play right side decent, and Zaitsev improves with Muzzin and no Gardiner, that makes next season easier

well, he did make sure not to bring back a bunch of babs' pets this year.

it's a little trickier getting rid of zaitsev and marleau, though.

and other pets like hyman and hainsey are actually useful players at good value so it's a bit tougher to shoot yourself in the foot like that.

Takes a little time sometimes for a new guy to get comfortable and find the best combos. Putting Dermott on the right side could also be a test to see how he handles it so he can move up the line up later.

Right so Rielly - Hainsey is a problem? Rielly is having a Norris caliber season paired with Hainsey. That cant be the problem

Zaitsev - Muzzin - Muzzin is our strongest defender, Z is struggling with Gardiner, plays better without him. Makes sense to try it.

Gardiner - Dermott - Jake is clearly struggling since the previous Colorado game, making bad reads, poor break outs, takes far too much time to make decisions which in turn lead to turnovers, so we put him on a bottom pairing to reduce the time he has to make mistakes. Makes sense.
