you are telling me that these coaches we let go that are successful with other teams are bad?

Like who? Berube, who wasn't anything special and just mostly got out of the way of a strong roster and only after several years of development as an assistant? The Berube who sucked ass as coach here because he was in entirely over his head and completely unready for the job?

That Berube? Yes, he sucked here.

AV was bad before he got here. He is bad here for the exact same reasons. If anyone is dumb enough to hire him again, he'll be bad there.

Who are these other coaches?

It's about development and moving towards the right direction.

Destroying Hart, Konency, Provorov, etc by having an inept coach will not help the organzation at all and will hurt the future as well...it's about starting to take steps in the right direction.

A scorched earth approach by trading the entire roster will not help any nor will retaining the current coaching staff and worrying about a few dollars...it's about looking at the bigger picture.

what's hard about dealing with the fact the this team isnt good, i mean fletch could trade some players and get talent back? but you would rather stick with these guys and complain about every coach we hire when things dont go your way because you think coaches are miracle workers? it doesnt work like that, austin matthews, sidney crosby, and ovi were stars out of the draft, players that come out of the draft are what they are, stop pretending that these players are superstars.

They are not firing AV no matter what. The corporation isn’t going to eat $15 million under these circumstances to get him out of here. Maybe 1 or even 2 assistant coaches will be the sacrificial lambs but that’s about it. The only likely outcome even for this offseason is Fletcher gets taken to the cleaners in a trade for a vet defenseman to play with Provorov. They don’t have much capspace to do anything else.

Next year will be more of the same. I wonder if Giroux or Couturier will resign in the offseason.

Eat the $15 million now and make it up in Playoff Revenue after hiring a competent staff.

do Flyers still pay him if another team hires him? I’d just hire an ambitious young coach willing to work for $100,000, pay AV $5m per year to go away. If new coach doesn’t work, fire him and get another one.

We play 5 times next week. 3x vs Boston. Boston plays 5 games next week. Even with how horrible this year has been, they could be a playoff team in a week. Crazy. Hart is the xfactor here. If he comes out hot which is very possible he could cover a lot up. Hart and Couts could get us into the playoffs alone.
As nice as it would be to see the optimism, can't lose 6-1 to the sabres (who they should've lost to on monday) and talk about the path to the playoffs anymore.

Who's saying they are superstars?

You can't say with a straight face that the talent on this team is at a level to be blown out several times over the last dozen games? It's clearly the coaching staff right now as the big red flag, and certain players second.

Be prepared fells, if the cock a roach survives last night, he is here to stay.

So now it's time to pick your poison, one of these groups is gone this summer.
Group A - G, Couts, Jake, JVR, Raffl, Laughton
Group B - All the kids including Hart

This team is going to be torn apart to appease AV
Are there still people who thought AV was getting fired during the season? Things can happen but I still think he is safe through next season.

if you want to blame someone, blame hextall because we had the cap space and prospects to make that team a contender when that team was on a roll in 2018 and we could have had a coach that you liked but he kept hak and blew money on jvr and not trade for ror and a defenseman. the failure is all on him and we had to settle for hayes and av and retired nisky.

this is what happens when you put blind faith and trust in someone like hextall, when sits on his butt and lets great talent and coaches pass by him, this is the result of it. there's no quick fix in this, we are stuck, now fletch has to clean it up.

No arguments there....but that ship has sailed now.

This has to be the most embarassing team they have iced, even in the early 90's the team (pre-Lindros) may not have had much talent and lost but at least they still had a snarl.

Why has no one been fired?

Because Giroux doesn't fight and Ghost is bad at the hockey, then said mean things

I watched pretty much every single game those 5 years pre-Lindros when they didn't make the playoffs and heart and grit was never the problem...just lack of scoring talent not helped by our non-visionary FO that refused to acknowledge the internationalization of the game and importance of skating that was occurring. Detroit of course became the Gold Standard on that front....

Everyone keeps talking about AV costing 15 mil to drop.

Thats only true if he doesn't get picked up by another NHL team for the 3 remaining years of the deal, which will reduce that compensation significantly. Almost every contract has the forfeit condition.

Gerard Gallant is somehow STILL available. No clue why no team - or the Flys - have picked him up. Great coach

This is a huge indication for the direction of this team. Will Fletcher NOT attempt to extend Giroux ? Cant see him not desperately trying to resign Couts but G is a wildcard. Giroux best years are behind him and his character and leadership come into question having won nothing in his time here...also, what kind of money does he expect ?

Flyers need to unload Voracek onto Seattle and pay to do so if needed
