How big is the gap between McDavid and Matthews actually?

Where's the cups for the Annointed One? So much better than everyone else yet the Oilers were a **** show last year.

1 players doesn't win a Cup by himself it takes a good team to do that. You can be by far the best player and be on a crappy team. Hockey isn't Tennis that the better you are the more you win.

Really? The way some make it seem the guy walks on water and is better than everyone in the league by miles...you'd think it was a man against boys.

Matthews has yet to have a single 70 point season. McDavid has had 2 100 point seasons his last 2 seasons. Matthews could have a ppg season and he still wouldn't be close to McDavid. Even if that happens that gap is still so big the Panama Canal would get gap envy.

No, not better than everyone in the league by miles.

Just miles better than players at the level of Auston Matthews.

Please show me the list of these 40 goal rookies and PPG sophomores that are on Matthews level. Let me guess...you think Drai is better than Matthews too right hahaha.

That rationale is just mind blowing, he's been in the league for two seasons and missed a quarter of the season last season injured. Funny how you failed to mention McDavid's injury shortened rookie season...should the claims have been made that he wasn't a 50 point player? Ridiculous.

Large. And that’s no slight on Matthews because IMO he’s up there now with the top 10 players in the league. But the gap between McDavid and everyone else is still increasing. He’s that good.

When it's all said and done Matthews will be closer to the third best player of his generation than he will be to the best player of his generation.

I'm a Leaf fan. McDavid will probably lead the league in points. With Matthews increased PP time he will lead the league in goals. Granted both players staying healthy.

McDavid is in his own tier. The gap isn't that close between him and Matthews, or himself and anyone else at this point imo.

We're talking about a player who -- if his team had a competent powerplay -- he probably would have had 125+ points last season. The guy had 84 ES points. There just isn't anyone close to him at this point in time imo.

Much larger than any stat any tml fan can come up with.

One has 2 Art Ross in a row, the other one does not.

When the Art Ross part evens out, then you can start making arguments - until then, it's not ever going to be close.
