For Montreal!

1-Perezhogin: He ahs played 2 agmes and has dominated in both. He has 2 goals up to now,

3-Plekanec: He has played all 3 games ont he 4th line but still got an assist. He looks like he can really dominate angainst other top lines. He played wuite some thime against Jagr and THornton in the 2 first games. 1 assist, +2

dominating huh? of course, i didn't see all of the game last night, but me thinks you may be exaggerating just a tad bob. i find it hard to believe that perezhogin "dominated" play. and i'd also be doubting of plekanec's ability to dominate a top line. JMO of course.

Perezoghin definitely was not dominating last night against the Leafs. Mind you, he looked good, but I would say it's a big stretch to say he "dominated".

Mikko Koivu - Injured but was playing like a veteran in the preseason. I'm eagerly waiting for him to join the Wild this year.

Derek Boogaard - Been scratched most of the time. Didn't do much in his first shift but wasn't suppose too.

Matt Foy - Eh, up and down. Definitely needs to see another season in the AHL.

Brent Burns - TOP 2 defenseman on the Wild. Will really surprise people this year. Solid play, strong, and can shoot the puck. This guy is going to be a rock for the Wild.

I agree with you here, but I remember this particular sequence last night games in Toronto's offensive zone where Perezhogin controlled the puck so well, he went around at will in the offensize zone, the defensemen couldn't touch him. I was really impressed.

Plekanec also hasn't been "dominating" by any stretch of the imagination, but Claude Julien put him and Higgins to play against Jagr in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period and they were able to neutralize him. I'm not saying he's the next Carbonneau, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing from him.

Not Lowell? I'd love to see him and Ladd as their top two LWs.
I don't think Wojtek Wolski can be sent to Lowell just yet. He was born February 24, 1986. Anyway;

Wojtek Wolski: Definitely getting used to the NHL, but he has had some very good plays and is a very skilled player. Sofar, he hasn't scored any points yet, but has come very close. In last night's game in Dallas, Wolski had a great scoring opportunity but was robbed by Marty Turco. However; the puck will eventually go in for him if he keeps playing like he can.

Marek Svatos: Sidelined on opening night with a groin injury, Svatos has only appeared in 1 game this season (5th career NHL regular season games), and scored the game winning goal on the powerplay late in the third period. In Svatos' 5 games, he has 3 goals dating back to last season. Marek Svatos will thrive under the new rules.

Peter Budaj: Peter Budaj and David Aebischer split the first 2 games of the season. Budaj, like Svatos, has only played once this season, which was last night in Dallas. Budaj was victimized on two somewhat 'fluky' goals by the Stars, but benefited on a game that he only had to make 16 saves for the win. Budaj is a very skilled goaltender who was once named as the OHL's top goaltender.

Atlanta:

Lehtonen: On IR for probably a month due to chronic groin injuries

Slater: Sent down to Chicago(AHL) after one game, put himself in a bad position against the boards in the first game and was bloodied up on a boarding penalty by a Panther.

Coburn: Playing well on the 3rd defensive line. A well rounded player.

I have to say I am suprised at how well Burns has done since they switched him to the blue line. Its hard to believe that hes made such a transition at that level

He was raw when he was drafted, but he had played the position before I believe (though only in minor hockey, though I may be wrong).

Being 6'4'' and skating like you're 5'10'' helps a lot.

I wouldn't really call that goal a routine shot; Steen picked a spot and sniped it.

he looked pass and fired a sniper of a shot... it was a great goal that theodore couldn't have stopped because he was cheating towards a pass cross ice.

Yeah, Perezhogin did look very good. From the beginning of the 2nd period to the end of the game, his line was all over the Leafs defence, it was a treat to watch.

Pavel Vorobiev just potted in a rebound for the Hawks against the BJs.
That makes 3 goals and 4 points in his last two games and the season to date.

Rene Bourque make have been surpassed as our top rookie.

As a Leaf fan I'd hesitate to call it a sniper of a shot, or a "great" goal.

You're right, he made the "head gesture" for a pass, Theodore was cheating and Steen put the puck in the net. Was it a solid goal ? Yes. Was it a great goal ? Not really.

All in all, a goal is a goal is a goal, and from a rookie that plays a strong two way game (on a team that isn't condusive to young players), I'm happy as a Leaf fan.

Caps:

Ovechkin: 2 g 2 a, plus a couple of nice hits.

Been kind of hard for him to get going the last couple of games, as the Caps have been on the PK far too often. I think he only had around 5 or 6 minutes of ice time in the 3rd period last night because of penalties.

5 or 6 minutes is good.. It's second line time

Sidney Crosby
- Our best forward in each of the 3 games played so far. 5 points leads the team.

I don't expect him to win the calder race nor getting 80 pts + over the season but I think that 5 points is only 3 game is a pretty good start for El Sid...

Damn it, I got tickets to the Pens/Thrashers game so I could see him live, I guess I should have kept myself updated on the situation. Bummer.

We have no rookies playing for our team this year. Kevin Bieksa and Tomas Mojzis may be potential AHL callups, though.

He just scored again. He looks like a natural goal scorer, good job by Chicago being patient with his development.

Franzen is playing good hockey. He was, for his type of player he is, phemoninal in preseason IMHO. He brings detroit size, great work ethic. He isnt fast, but he can kill penalties and plays a VERY smart way of hockey. He'll probably have a career like Holmstrom.

Howard probably wont dress any games inless legs gets hurt (knock on wood)...

Lebda as a overaged rookie had a few pts, but he was sent down with the woolley signing and Rivers being healthy.

Very nice work indeed. I thought they rushed him and i was thinking for a while, wow, Yakubov and Vorobiev make that draft for them look brutal. But if the kid can become a solid 2nd line scorer consistantly or even first line scorer consistantly they might have themselves a very nice core of players for the future.

Parise has been one of the Devils best forwards so far. 1 Goal and 2 helpers. Problem for Parise is that in three games the Devs have spent half of those games on the PK.

Phoenix -
Keith Ballard - In his first game, handled Todd Bertuzzi and relished the battle. Played it sensible for a long time, then showed excellent hockey sense when it was 4 on 4, rushing into the slot and cleanly beating Cloutier 1 on 1 (Cloutier had been stonewalling the Coyotes all night). Has gone on to receive big minutes, Gretzky trusts this guy and Michalek too.

I just wanted to add that Ballard has been absolutely fearless when it comes to blocking shots. I haven't seen Coyotes shot blocking with this kind of frequencey and overall ballseyness since Mike Sullivan. If Ballard continues to play the kind of hockey he has through the first three games, he will be my favorite player in the league very soon.
