Congrats to Michael Houser on his 1st NHL win, dude played well. Ullmark, Hutton, and UPL are all injured, I’ve never seen a team have to go so far down the goalie depth chart- and the ECHL call-up plays rock solid and wins his first game against the Isles, 4-2. Is he the next Binnington? No, but it’s cool nonetheless.

If you answered your own question, was the thread needed?

Congrats to him on a great debut though.

The Sabres actually looked happy at the end, congratulating Houser. Hopefully he gets to start a few more...

It’s half to give him props, half to point out the Sabres resiliency- seriously, they’re on their 4th/5th string goalies without their captain/best player, and instead of giving up they continue battling.

Besides, isn’t it normal for guys to get a thread for their 1st win? Dude is an NHLer now!

Just to put a cap on it...it wasn’t just the first nhl game of his career after turning pro 9 years ago...he hasn’t played a game anywhere since an echl game i think over a year ago

It’s not every day you get to see a guys career highlight...or that that guy works that long to have one shot to get it. It took four injuries on a team that will finish last...but today all the work he’s put in since he was a kid was worth it.

Love shit like this. Nearing 30 years old. Riding the buses. Could have quit. Sticks with it, and wins his debut. Get it!

Houser has had 16 surgeries to fix “bilateral club feet”. He wasn’t expected to play this sport as a kid, let alone make it to the NHL. Which makes this story all the more remarkable.

He deserves all of the props for this win. Even if you’re an Isles fan, you have to be happy for him.

The guy hasn’t played an actual game AT ANY LEVEL in 14 months. On top of this being his 1st NHL start at 28 years old. On top of him having 14 surgeries before he was 2 years old.

    Pretty cool story.

Yeah, Isles sucked tonight but that doesn't take away from Houser. He was poised and really stayed in the moment. It looked like the game was going to go south but he was a steady presence and looked confident for a guy in his 1st career game. Kept them in it long enough for them to find their legs.

He was more mentally prepared than anyone on the Islanders.

Sounds like he’ll get a chance for another win tonight as he gets the start in the back to back games.

I love seeing this stuff after hearing these whiny vets complaining they need all these games to get back into game shape as an excuse for their garbage play.

His name is suspiciously close to the name "Housley". Sorry not buying it.

Would be an amazing story if he ends up being the saviour of the Sabres or even better yet becomes the best goalie of all-time.
