My apologies if it's already being discussed, I didn't see a thread on it.

It is by Haggerty, but worth discussing...

If it's by Haggerty, it's DEFINITELY not worth discussing ...

I will take this with a grain of salt since it's Haggs but I can see Horton resenting the fact that Chia didn't lock him up during the season-however hockey is a business not an ego stroking enterprise and Chia was smart to take a wait and see.

In the end I think at worse Iginla produces at Horton levels-Iginla doesn't have the speed he used to have but he has great puck handling skills and an amazing shot-we aren't going to be hurting on that line too much.

Now you just need an empty threat from Murph (followed up with Slainte of course) and an insult from KPD for the Boston sports media hat trick

Horton wasn't the same player post-Rome hit. Before that hit he was a power-forward with a sweet shot. Now he is more like a post-Sharks Dany Heatley. Loved him as a Bruin, but glad we didn't sign him to that contract.

I don't blame anyone for not liking Haggs, but try reading the article before you trash it, eh? Can't really call it a hack article when the info in question is coming straight out of Horton's mouth.

I can't blame Horton for not wanting to "wait around" for the Bruins to make him an offer, but at the same time he'd out of line to hold it against them. during the regular season of his contract year he had given them no reason to make him a big offer. It was really looking like they were gonna have no choice but to let him walk until he came alive in the playoffs. I have no problem with him, but don't be mad at the team for not throwing money at you during your worst offensive year.

in hindsight it's kind of crazy how that final playoff run shifted the landscape of this team in a lot of ways.

Hacks performance is based on page clicks, alot of the reason he writes his ridiculous nonsense in his blog. Clicks=checks.

You can check the Bruins twitter for all the quotes. Hacks probably wasnt even there when they were interviewing Horton.

I'm sure Haggs is following one of his personal agendas and thinks he is sneakily going to try to trash another player. He is what he is.

I'm glad for Horton that he is happy. We'll miss him. Luckily we have a similar player in Iginla now.

What waiting around though?I thought it was always common knowledge he was gonna walk.

Nathan will be doing plenty of waiting around to get into the playoffs again.

I'd argue his shot really wasn't all that great. He took FOREVER to get the puck off his stick.

We wanted him back, we offered him money, he left for a ridiculously long deal to play somewhere no one cares.

Someone else wrote an extremely similar article when Horty was about to leave, using the same reasoning (he felt slighted). I'll try and find it.

    Edit: http://www.boston.com/blogs/sports/...did_nathan_horton_leave_the_bruinsreally.html

"Some have speculated that Horton was unhappy he had to prove himself worthy of an extension in the playoffs, rather than being given the opportunity to work out a new deal during the regular season."

If I was offered the deal that columbus gave him, I wouldn't wait around to sign it either.

True. Also must be why he breaks up content that other journalists fit in one article into several pieces.

Works for him obviously, I am not criticizing. Better writers in this market so I don't read his work.

I just figured he left so he could find an organization where prolonged periods of floating were deemed acceptable by management and the fans knew little enough about to hockey to make anything of it....but that's just me.
