The Seney-experiment has to end. He is not an NHL player at this stage of his career.

And trading Henrique wasn't such a smart decision it seems. We filled one hole by digging another, way deeper one. Sure, I know, we made the playoffs, but the fact is: We were 14-6-4 (1.3 points/game) before the trade and 30-23-5 (1.1 points/game) after the deal. So we got worse. And now we're without a 2c and get killed game after game.

This team looks like a total train wreck at this point. Actually, it doesn't even look like a team. More like a bunch of chicken without heads. Something has to change and soon. I guess it'll be the coaching staff that will take a hit now. Do I like it? No, I'd have loved to see Hynes build on last year and take another step forward. Instead, he lost it completely and seems to have no clue. The interviews after these drubbings clearly show it. He sends out the same defensive units time and again. Why did they even recall Yakovlev if they don't play him at all?

One positive note: McLeod is starting to gain confidence in Binghamton, maybe he will turn into something useful after all. Zacha looks exactly the same in Binghamton than in New Jersey. This guy will never be anything more than a warm body. What a waste of a draft pick.

Bratt deserves his hype. Kid has top line skill.

Wood looks like a shell of the player he was last year.

Hmm, I guess Bratt could be something more. However, his level of play fluctuates a lot. Ofc hoping him to become spectacular, but lets see. Perhaps a slight misjudgement to label him in the same basket with Wood.

The loss of Henrique only hurts because Zacha has not at all progressed since Henrique left.

One other reason for Henrique's absence hurting right now is that Johansson has been disappointing here (when he's played and wasn't injured/concussed) at the very best.

I know he plays on a poor offensive team but for what it's worth, Henrique has 8 points in 18 games this year. He's shooting 18% and he's still on pace for only 18 goals this season. And to keep Henrique, we would have had to sign him long term or just let him walk after this year. And when Henrique's shooting percentage starts to regress with age, he won't score many goals anymore, because it's not like he's gonna start taking more shots. Shot generation and shooting percentage both regress with age. It's the reason why Joe Thornton hasn't hit 20 goals since he was 31, despite being a perennial 20-25 goal scorer before that. I know Thornton is MUCH better Henrique, I'm just giving an example here. Ryane Clowe might actually be a better example.

This pretty much sums it up. I think Devils management must be quite puzzled with this situation.

Just everything that can go wrong is going wrong with this team.

There's just something different about this version of the Devils.

It's catching up to us I guess, the lack of talent and the lack of draft picks panning out. It's not possible to be in the top when top half draft picks from 2015 and 2016 are nowhere near the expected level.

the vatanen trade still makes sense. the devils needed him. now with Moore gone, even more.
unfortunately all the forwards who should contribute to fill "Henriques" hole, are not. And honestly, even the first has not been clicking for a while now. they mainly scored on individual efforts. or powerplay.
i would try MaJo on the first. hes a pure skill. no grit. at all. and it might get his head above the clouds, due to
his "pride" playing on first. Bratt is not ready yet. put Palmieri on the second, he could carry the line more the Majo..

Bratt absolutely deserves the hype. The speed, the edge work, the skill, the vision, he's pretty strong on his skates and on the puck and will only get better as he gets stronger, etc. Bratt has all the makings of a future top 6 player at least, with potential for more.

Send Seney and Joey back to Bing

I like what I saw from them but they are not ready to make an impact here

Let them properly develop in Bing and have success on the scoresheet

wood looked great to start but reverted back to second half of last season wood. where’s the aggression? he’s trying to be a perimeter playmaker instead of just attacking the net every chance he gets

Was taking it easy on Wood a bit because people were giving him the benifit of the doubt with his goose egg for all those games because he was putting shots on net (even though very few were any good).

That has run his course. He has looked ineffective all year. A massive step back for him as a player. Not close to living up to that contract he held out for.

That’s what usually happens when a player misses camp. He’s been terrible.

The teams dog shit and the coaching staff is horrible and completely clueless. Every f***ing year they've been here this staff has had the team go into a tail spin, last year they were lucky they had the hot start and finish.

I think we're well beyond it being just one thing. Right now, nearly the entire team is playing defeated and with zero confidence.

We already need to come out with our best hockey and determination to compete night in and night out, and by and large, that's how we competed last year. If we continue playing like this, we're only going to see results like this.

Whether it's the coaches or the players, they need to start looking at themselves and acting on what they've been saying. Aside from maybe 1 or 2 players, we're not seeing it on a nightly basis the way we were last season.

He created space for his linemates. He looked decent for his first game back. Put him with 13 and 9, Palms does not work on that top line.

I would like him to remain on the 2nd line to see if he and MarJo can regain some of that chemistry they seem to have been building prior to MarJo's injury last season before reforming the Kids & The Hall line.

I don't even need to click on the vid. Just look at the picture of Hynes' face.

It says it all.

Id really like to know what Shero thinks of all that has gone on thus far this season

would be so cool
