I figure this could be a cool thread where users share their game day routine(s) with everyone. I've kind of been doing the same old thing for the last four years and wouldn't mind switching it up every now and then and would love to hear what everyone else does pre game, intermission, post game.

To start things off, I usually try to get downtown on weeknight games as soon as I can (around 5:30-6:00) and grab a few beers at the tavern or the Met before the game starts. The atmosphere is pretty good even on early weeknights (mon-we'd) at the Tavern, the same cannot really be said for the Met. On Saturdays I like to make a whole day out of a home game. Grab a bite and a few at drinks at home with friends or family that have tickets, or if we go early enough to snatch up a table, then at the Tavern or Met. I usually coast through the game (a beer per intermission) before hitting the Kingshead for a night out after the game's over. I probably sound like an alcoholic, it isn't all about the beer, don't get the wrong idea lol, I don't get hammered or anything. I'm really a casual drinker (or a heavy one and in denial:help:)
I usually don't do Sunday games, if someone we know wants tickets to a game then me and my buddy usually sell them Sunday 2pm starts.

I've left a bit out for conversation sake, I'm getting really excited for another season of hockey in downtown Winnipeg! Please share your routines!

I typically go with my wife. It's how I convinced her to spend 2K+ on Jets tickets in the first place is we make it a "Date Night". I try and draft my games so that they're spread out throughout the season (once a month).

Because we come from the south end of the city, we park on the south end of the arena. Sometimes in the convention centre sometimes in a surface lot (accross from East India Company) or somewhere on the street but facing the right way to go back south after the game.

Then we go for a nice sushi meal at Ichiban as opposed to the pub type food. Back in the first year, I'd get my parking validated and pay 0$ for parking in the Delta parkade but I think they've grown wise to that.

We'd make our way down to the area on time for the video intro and anthems.

Aftwards, we'd head back via the "Ring of Fire" skywalk and listen to the post game show on 1290 on the way home.

park car, walk to arena, maybe grab a drink, go to seat, watch game and then go home. Pretty exciting stuff.

For the Jets 1st playoff game at home, the good lady and I went to the Shark Club pre-game. She had a couple drinks and for the purposes of being able to remember the game, I abstained. It was a crazy atmosphere. The walk back to our cars had a death march feel to it :(

Tavern United post-game is super cool too.

Haven't gone to enough games to truly establish a ritual yet.

Used to eat downtown prior to games all the time but it got expensive (well, it always was, it never changed) so now only occasionally eat downtown - Pint, Yellow Dog, Elephant and Castle are the usual places. Usually one beer prior to getting to MTS.

Get to MTS, buy a beer, usually there for first skate warmup but rarely watch.

Go to Tavern during intermission, buy cheap Bud, use washroom. Repeat at second intermission.

Go for beer after game to let traffic thin. Go home, arriving only about 5 minutes later than I would if I'd been in the thick of the traffic.

Spread my tickets throughout the season as best I can but lots of games this year - 2 Sep, 2 Oct, 2 Nov, 3 Dec, 3 Jan, 1 Feb, 4 Mar, 1 Apr.

Yup. I've even snuck in a quick game of pool upstairs between periods. It's great.

I never leave the rink. I'm not one who cares if I save 5 bucks for a beer, Id rather enjoy the craziness between periods in the concourse, I run into so many people I know and enjoy the mingling, I don't like leaving MTS Centre at all during games, but that's just me.

A lot of the same at the surrounding pubs during intermissions. I don't always leave the rink (ie date night) but I'd say I do leave about 2/3 of the time.

Ah, nothing too crazy for me...

Home gamedays usually begin pretty early. From the time I wake up, until the end of the game, I will eat no food, drink no liquid nor will I lie with a woman, except as provided by True North.

I follow a few gameday rituals - from kissing the Puck of Deliverance (signed by Mark Scheifele at the 2014 Draft Party) to the blood sacrifice to the Hockey Gods (All Hail! Sorry about your gerbils, kids!), to the Selection of the Lucky Jersey (choices are the Inaugural Home Jersey of Unbridled Joy, the White Pavelec Jersey of Loathing, the Home Jersey of the Holy Byfuglien, or the White Playoff Practice Jersey of Glorious Whiteness (and Matching Super White Track Pants)).

For evening games I'm usually getting a little bit squirrely from lack of food, water and women by 6pm, so I arrive at the arena as early as possible. I eat a Sacred Jet Dog (with onions and mustard and NOTHING ELSE - WHAT DO YOU WANT THE JETS TO LOSE?!). I then make an offering of $20 to the True North Foundation in exchange for a Divine 50/50 Ticket, and make my way to my seat.

Game Time Commandments:

Thou shalt be in your seat for the start of the game and the beginning of every period.
Thou shalt not leave for any reason during gameplay - no ducking out with 1 minute left to beat the rush to the washroom, no getting up for a beer...sit thine ass down until the period is over. And so help me if you leave before the end of a close game to beat the traffic or something you are worse than Glen Anderson!
Thou shalt glare terribly at anyone who breaks the previous two Commandments.
Thou shalt cheer loudly.
Thou shalt mock mercilessly the other team's goalie.
Thou shalt boo the other team's best player unless it seems to be energizing that player...then thou shalt stop booing him.
Thou shalt join in funny chants.
Thou shalt not join in unfunny chants.
Thou shalt do the wave maybe once or twice if the game's in the bag, but come on, let's not get carried away.
Thou shalt remain for the Manitoba Hydro Three Stars - I don't care what the score is at the end of the game.
Thou shalt seriously consider Manitoba Hydro when shopping for electricity or natural gas.
Thou aren't under any obligations to buy furniture at Dufresne, though.

If the Jets win, I partake in much rejoicing, feasting and merriment after the game. If the Jets should not win, I remain in my seat and weep until asked to leave by the staff.

And that's about it... :sarcasm:

I could care less about the cost. It's the 15 minutes in the bathroom line on the lower concourse that drives me batty.

I'd be thrilled to stay in the concourse and hand my sheckels over for overpriced beer, if only TNSE would do something to address what has been a problem even at Moose games in the past. Given they haven't I head to Tavern. I could just run in, use the facilities and zip back across the road but I also don't mind handing them a few bucks in return for having a useful washroom.

Love the commandments Gm0ney :thumbu:

Sharky before! All the way. Great atmosphere, good food and some casino fun. The Pint after.

The pint is terrible. they will be closed soon enough. if you go to jets games you are better off going to boston pizza or staying at mts centre to enjoy exchange restaurant or moxies.

After watching the draft lottery this year one thing became clear to me:

The Hockey Gods are dead.

The Hockey Gods remain dead.

And we have killed them.

How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?

What were holiest and mightiest of all that the sport has yet owned have bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us?

What water is there for us to clean ourselves?

Ya figure? I've been there once (on a weeknight) and the place was absolutely packed. Maybe it's died down since last winter.

Different perceptions I'm guessing. The Pint isn't my favorite place, but an hour before any game I've been to there's been no space to sit at all on either floor. It was packed during the summer for the soccer games and I've been told it's popular enough, if not completely full, on weekend nights. I'd imagine now that Jets games are back, they're quite full again with regularity.

Yeah I highly doubt they are shut down anytime soon.
I still have two coupons for free wings there which I got at a game last year. I may check it out this October.
