READ THE RULES.

And make sure you have your ROSTER & CAP INFO posted in the roster thread!

Commissioners

Game Schedule
  • Trade Deadline: Saturday, December 15th @ 3pm
  • Standings & Playoff Voting: Saturday, December 15th 3-11pm
  • Entry Draft First Round: Sunday, December 16th @ 8pm
  • Entry Draft Rounds 2 & 3: Sunday, December 16th
  • Free Agency: Monday, December 17th @ 12pm
  • Awards Voting: Wednesday, December 19th @7pm
All times EST and subject to change

Salary Cap
  • CAPFRIENDLY IS RECOMMENDED FOR ALL CAP INFO.
  • The salary cap maximum for the 2018-2019 season is $80M.
  • The salary cap minimum for the 2018-2019 season is $59M
  • The salary cap maximum for the 2019-20 season is $83M
  • Teams may exceed the cap maximum by 10% during the offseason.
  • Teams must comply with the salary cap during the season and by the end of the game.
  • Teams may have a roster of no more than 23 players by the end of the game.

Waivers/Buyouts

  • Post in this thread if you’d like to place a player on waivers.
  • Burying a player in the minors or Europe only eliminates a maximum of $$1.025 of their cap hit. Use the Buyout Calculator.
  • A player will be on waivers for 24 hours.
  • Waiver priority will be based on the NHL standings as of the 11/25/18
  • If a team claims a player off of waivers, they then have the lowest waiver priority.
  • Teams are permitted to use a maximum of TWO ordinary buyouts.

Trades
  • All trades must be sent to @Joel Ward and @SJSharks39 or else they are not valid.
  • Trade submissions must include the teams involved, the first and last names of players involved, as well as, the year and original owner of draft picks changing hands, as applicable.
  • Trade submissions that do not contain all relevant information will not be valid.
  • Once a trade is agreed upon, send it in BEFORE POSTING, and then you can announce it in the thread. A deal without a NTC or NMC does not have to be approved.
  • If a trade is announced prior to it being sent in, it will be vetoed.
  • ALL MOVES MUST BE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC. The commissioners hold the power to veto any moves we deem to be ridiculous.
  • A trade involving a NTC or NMC must be sent in by BOTH GMs with a reasoning for the player(s) to waive. The trade must be approved by BOTH JW and SJSharks39 prior to posting. Keep in mind that many NTCs or NMCs will NOT be waived.
  • A proactive approach for clause waives is encouraged - if you're not sure if a player will waive for a specific team - ASK! You can likely expect a response within a day, if not sooner.
  • The commissioners will provide a 5 to 8-team no-trade list for players with an unspecified "limited NTC" upon request.
  • If a trade involving a NTC or NMC is announced before approval, it will be vetoed.
  • If a team does not have enough cap space to complete a trade that has been sent in, the trade will be vetoed.
  • Vetoed deals must be significantly altered in order for them to be accepted.
  • If a player waives his NTC or NMC, the NTC or NMC will still be valid with their new team.
  • Players retain no-trade protection after being traded unless the clause was not already active at the time of the trade.

Free Agent Offers
  • All free agent offers must be submitted to agents in the following format: Player Name - # years, $#,###,###/year, Clause (i.e. Evander Kane - 7 years, $7,000,000/year, LNTC), or else they will not be valid.
    • This is to be fair to those who volunteer their time as agents. It is otherwise an incredibly tedious task to keep track of player offers and post them in the FA thread.
  • All RFAs will be tendered a contract unless specified by their GM.
  • Teams are only permitted to use their own original selections as compensation for offer sheets.
Agents
Awards Voting
  • At the end of the game (provided that there is enough interest & I know there will be because you guys are all crazy competitors...) participants will be encouraged to vote on a number of "awards".
  • Awards will earn you bragging rights among your fellow GMs.
  • Criteria and names of awards are still under construction, but so far we have: best rebuild, best team on paper, most improved team, best signing, best draft, and best (most even) trade.
  • If you have any suggestions, feel free to send me a message!

Need agent volunteers (both for during the season and FA). Please PM me if you can help out!

SJS is busy tonight, so if you want a clause waived, message LT and I with the details.

:leafs

Connor Brown and futures remain available for upgrades at RD and LW. Nikita Zaitsev appears to be on the move.

:avs Around, we have had some good discussions but nothing major is imminent. Patrik Nemeth and a forward appear to be on the move though.

All futures available including Jost, Makar, Timmins, etc. (Ott 1st would take a damn good player). Main goal is to upgrade the 2nd line, but also looking for a bottom 6 forward and an upgrade on EJ.

Nick Suzuki is in play, but only for a young LHD with high potential.

Listening on Jeff Petry (LNTC) if a young LHD is coming back. Looking for a hockey trade.

Charles Hudon and CLB 2019 2nd round pick are being shopped for a top 6 winger who can complement Domi amd Drouin.

Benn and Schlemko can go for a mid pick. Shaw is actually having a good season but he is also available.

Contending. In talks for a number of top 6 forwards. Could also look into a top 4 defender.

:caps

Probably contending, but we may consider retooling if the East arms race intensifies.

Open to anything except moving Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Carlson, and Holtby.

The Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs have lined up for a swap that has sent defenseman Nikita Zaitsev and a 2019 4th to the Avalanche in exchange for winger Matt Calvert and defenseman Patrik Nemeth. With the move, Toronto announced that they have placed defenseman Martin Marincin on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the AHL.

"Nikita has been a quality defender for us to begin his NHL career, but this move was necessitated by our need for cap and roster flexibility. We wish him the best in Colorado where we do not doubt he will flourish in a lesser role without the Toronto media spotlight focussing on him as the teams whipping boy. Happy to add Matt and Patrik as depth pieces on the squad - Matt will battle with Tyler Ennis for a spot on our fourth line, bringing a little physicality. Nemeth is still a younger guy with some size. We like him as a penalty killer and may pursue a reunion with him after the season ends as he hits FA."

McPhee messed this team up. I'll have to fix it. Open to lots of discussions.

Have lots of picks to trade, but also eyeing cap space (67m already commuted next year on only 15 guys)

:avs Confirm, we feel that Zaitsev is a nice upgrade to our defense and will do much better away from the microscope of the Toronto media.

Another note, there was also a 2019 4th to us in the agreed upon deal.

A massive deal involving a ton of our futures may be happening, e4

Only untouchables are Ryan O'Reilly and my youngers players Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, and Vince Dunn.

Have had some talks regarding Alex Pietrangelo and Vlad Tarasenko but it will take a great offer to move either.

Brayden Schenn is available for a 1st+.

David Perron/Tyler Bozak/Alex Steen are available, possibly with salary retention.

Impending UFA's Jay Bouwmeester, Carl Gunnarsson, Robert Bortuzzo and Pat Maroon are all available for a draft pick.

Wow, pretty sure that the Panthers would have a better package than that if Huberdeau was placed on the trade block.

I would imagine the value for Saros is pretty high. I do agree, though. I would've been pretty happy to beat that.

:avs Confirm, it’s a steep price for Stone and Duchene but we feel it gives us a great chance to contend and we have no doubts about re-signing them to have them around for the long haul.

Duchene first experience in Colorado didn’t exactly end well.

But I am not his agent... oh wait! ;)

Incredible trade for Ottawa, I don’t think that Duchene and Stone re-signed are worth that much, considering how good Ottawa pick will be.
