Bentley reunion
I don't know if there's really much to say about this list, other than I'm sure Max Bentley will be a lot higher next time around.

Three guys from the list didn't make the top 100. I'm guessing that Lafontaine was lower on this list than any other, but outside of that, not much unique to this list. No voting participation outside of the top 50.

It seems to me to be a pretty inconspicuous list that won't attract a lot of debate.

Would be interested to hear from Eagle who will be higher, and who will be lower, next time.

I thought that Marcel Dionne at 72 (behind Niedermayer especially) was interesting.

Those were the two names that jumped out at me as well. I'm curious to know from Eagle and the others who had Niedermayer on thier lists: Was this actually the product of genuine research and assessment? Because I can't help but think that the "experts" in the media who constantly overrate modern players in an all-time context may have been the overriding factor (you see it with Lidstrom and Brodeur constantly as well).

For me at least, it was a combination of two factors: overrating his pre-lockout career and valuing playoff performance too much. The first was just a pure recall thing, projecting what he has done lately over his entire career when that hasn't been the case in the least. The second I think I was able to balance over the course of the voting process. For example, I had Marcel Dionne far lower than most (if not all) behind centers like Ted Kennedy and Henri Richard and much of it was based on defensive play and playoff performance.

A surprising thing for me is not having Makarov on the list but including Maltsev and Yakushev. It may have just been an oversight on EB's behalf.

It's not a list I'm proud of actually. I've made it in a couple of hours and looking at it, this list is very flawed. Nieds over Dionne is crazy and I have no idea why I did so. However, I still stand that I would take Jean Ratelle and Norm Ullman ahead of Peter Forsberg.

This list is not worth debating. If you really want to debate over one of my list, my brand new top-50 is worth it:

1-Bobby Orr, defenseman
2-Gordie Howe, right winger
3-Wayne Gretzky, center
4-Mario Lemieux, center
5-Jean Béliveau, center
6-Maurice Richard, right winger
7-Bobby Hull, left winger
8-Doug Harvey, defenseman
9-Eddie Shore, defenseman
10-Howie Morenz, center
11-Jacques Plante, goaltender
12-Raymond Bourque, defenseman

Actually, my biggest question mark was The Big Yak ahead of Maltsev...

How did Bossy go from 13 to 31?

I guess this is the trend of the board. I think lots of people got swayed on Bossy.
But being that I have an apparent greater respect for goal scorers than most, Bossy at 13 seems better to me than 31.

Yep, arguments put him down on my list, even though he was way too high at 13 (don't know why I had him that high). I definitely more the kind of fan who likes complete hockey players and that's the main reason why players like Clarke or Trottier are ahead of him. Anyway, got to admit that it's really difficult to put a rank on a player. This list would probably change again if we started over again.
