There's a big difference between the Islanders talking to Florida about Hoffman and Brassard and your title which implies that a deal has been made. Click bait title.

C'mon, that isn't even in the ballpark with the Panthers seemingly trying to jettison them at lightspeed.

Islanders PP is 24th in the league. Hoffman helps you tremendously in that area. An area in the game you need to be clutch to win a best of 7. Plus a decent playoff performer in Brassard. We're not going to just give away Hoffman for a 2nd + prospect

That trade isn’t even reasonable. The one you posted needs to seriously be edited by you.

Yes it is. Hoffman has 2 playoff runs left on his deal, he's an asset on the PP which the Islanders currently need help with.

Hoffman is worth a mid to late 1st + prospect and Brassard is a late 2nd or early 3rd. How is it not reasonable? Dzingel just went for two 2nds + roster player and is on pace for what Hoffman has done his whole career. Not to mention Hoffman is on pace for 35g and 70pts

Not very clear... also likely total BS anyway but couldn’t the Isles kick tires on each guy, only to pull the trigger on one?

This could be interpreted as the Isles acquiring both in a packaged deal, seems unlikely IMO
