Just curious to see what some of you guys thought about these two players. I'm trying to gather some information about these 2 guys but the information seems kind of limited. Basically from what I understand is that Stuart was basically like a pre-Doug Harvey able to control the flow & tempo of games with his brilliant skating and all-around play. The ultimate hockey says that Mike Grant would have won 5 straight Norris trophies in the 1890's & also was a brilliant skater and puck rusher. Let me know what you guys think?

Good luck finding anything of substance other than the bios in The Trail Of the Stanley Cup and Ultimate Hockey. they might also be mentioned in 1-2 articles in "Backcheck: A Hockey Retrospective". Other than that, they are basically lost in the sands of time.

Just some basic info from Wikipedia:

Hod Stuart

Mike Grant

Harvey Pulford

The three more or less defined and set the standards for early hockey defensive play. Pulford is viewed as the prototype stay at home d-man. Grant a rusher, Stuart more all around.
