The new Clear Cut product looks great. I saw an 05-06 Lundqvist Future Watch Acetate Rookie, and almost went in on the purchase. At $200+ though, I really need to love the card.

That Carter Hart is a beautiful card. Not sure what the market is for Clear Cut RCs though. I'm sure that goes for over $100.

Ive seen some people selling it for 180-200$ CAD. I wonder if I should keep it or sell it right now ?

These clear cut cards are very hyped right now. If Carter becomes great though it'll keep going up.

Made a stop into one of the locals on the way to Gila River Arena today. Last year I spent to much on cards and decided to only open one box this year. I did, however, have some luck last year and struck a "hot box" that was loaded with Young Guns including Elias in the second to last pack. No such luck with my one box this year.

Young Guns pulls were Nathan Bastian, Danil Yurtaykin, Alexandre Texier, Ryan Poehling, Gaetan Haas & Lean Bergman. Also pulled the Poehling UD Portrait and Joakim Nygard canvas. There was also a Shea Weber UD Game Jersey but I am not the biggest fan of jersey cards. Had some luck with commons getting most of the Wings and some good players. My heart was set in Taro Hirose and a Hughes Bro but, alas, this was the fate I was dealt.

Despite my claims to buy only one box there's high probability I'll buy another one as soon as Monday. Lot's of big talk about being responsible with the card fund...resistance is futile.

I accidentally bought two Draisaitl 9.5 young guns a few years back. Should I try to sell now or hold on to sell one?

I've purchased 2 hobby boxes since my post on the 9th. Hit on Jack Hughes but I am disappointed by the Young Guns distribution. Three boxes opened and I now have doubles of 4 YG's. Great if you're hitting doubles of a Hughes boy but frustrating when it's a YG common. Would much rather have other YG commons. Ah, well. Win some, lose some.

I wonder who has this card right now. I remember in 2015, it was the most watched hockey card on ebay. And the guy selling it, kept listing it, then ending it. Then listed it again a few weeks later, and one of the corners on the back was pretty badly blemished. Ended it again. A few weeks later, listed it again, he got it graded, came back an 8 via Beckett. Ended it again!. And 2 months later, saw Probstein consignment selling it, but now it's authenticated by PSA, and not graded. wtf?
This card, is the holy grail of McDavid rookie cards, and it's a damn shame it fell into the hands of a goofball, that defiled the only copy made in the world.

Sell it now at its highest value while he's hot. Even McDavid's rookie card values have gone down from where they used to be so no card value (except the SSP ones) stays high forever. I regretted not selling my 6 EP YGs last year when I could've gotten $160 for each then. They are now worth $80. So like the Stock market, I could've sold high and buy low. Draisaitl's card values should be at its highest ever so sell sell sell.

I disagree.

All cards get a big boost when they come out, but then the cards will go up in value again if the player does well.

If Draisaitl and the Oilers actually do manage to make some playoff noise, the cards will go to in value.

And McDavid cards have been going to in value. Graded 9.5 YGs up to $500.

Yea I got a Mcdavid too. I bought it for around 220 so I’m glad that’s gone up.
The Drais were about 40 a piece when I got them. Ok maybe I should hold on to them.

I agree with a couple of points of your post. Darisaitl was never hyped and he's never done as well as he is currently doing now (counting the playoffs from a couple of years ago). Maybe his card values will go up if the Oilers get into the playoffs and he does well in them again. However, that is a gamble of sorts. Now, we all know his card values are at its' highest so if you don't feel like gambling, now is a good time to sell (if you don't PC his cards that is).

Anyways, McDavid 9.5 YGs used to sell for $1200 or $1300. The fact that it sells for $500 now tells you how much card values drop over time if there's lots of supplies of that card.

McDavid YGs 9.5 did not sell for $1200. Maybe a 10, but not a 9.5.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but when you told me a McDavid 9.5 YG sells for $500 now, I believed you without doing any research. It's actually still selling for $650 - $700 now (check the non-foil 9.5 ones here)...

mcdavid 9.5 Young guns | eBay

Having said that, McDavid 9.5 YGs did used to sell for $1200 to $1300 at its peak. I used to own several McDavid YGs (still have one left) and I also sold on E-bay all the time so I did look up a lot of hockey card sales, including McDavid's BGS 9.5 YGs cards. All card values (the ones that are common) will drop once it reaches a peak.

You have to look at sold prices. The last 2 ygs sold for 500 and 502.

No they never sold for 1200.

When they first can't out, they were selling for about 500. They dipped, and now they are climbing back up. They'll continue to climb imo as the supply dries up as more fans stash them into collections.

Over time star players continue to climb. Look at Crosby. Even guys like Nash and Datsyuk are continuing to climb.

Edit

Here's an article on McDavid prices upon release. $200-250, for ungraded:

Good example also is Ovechkin. Bought an ungraded ovie in 2014 for $80. Good luck finding one now for less than $200 raw.

There was a time around 2014, when ovy wasn't playing all that well and graded ygs were going for about $100... I should have bought a bunch. Don't even have one ovy in my collection.
