The experts at Hockey Canada should look at themselves for the collapse of Team Canada and what they have done to Junior Hockey in this country.

Canada used to be known for PASSION and HEART as well as INTIMIDATION of our opponnents.

Hockey Canada has taken the life out of Junior Hockey with their rules and over officiating of games .

What do we see now??

Sweden runs around like they own the rink , and pretty much physically dominate us in our game vs them

Russia shows the Passion and Heart to score 5 goals in the 3rd period to Win Gold.

Its time to wake up Canada Hockey and get back to what has always made us great!

PASION,HEART.INTIMIDATION with a dash of SKILL..

Christ, they went all the way to the final, were leading 3-0 coming into the 3rd, had 14 minutes where they weren't focused or/and Russia took over with speed and skill.

What's wrong with you? Do you want Hockey Canada to blow the whole program up, fire every coach, demolish every arena and take only new players next year?

I'm guessing your real name is not Bob Nicholson.:sarcasm:

It was a great tournament. If you don't watch junior hockey, how could you judge?

Hockey Canada is to blame.

In fact we should stop sending teams to meaningless tournaments.

Junior hockey in Canada is big business. Teams shouldn't have to lend players to Team Canada. Players could get hurt, and those players are needed for their club teams, ,many of those teams are in a race for the playoffs or fighting for first. I believe that is the excuse the NHL uses too.

You want to hold a tournament? Hold it when no team is affected.

I agree on one point - that Canadians should blame Hockey Canada for indoctrinating these kids that they are gods and superior. You whole tactical and developmental program, your announcers; your media and your "climate" in general, practically tells these kids that they have nothing to worry about. That they will always win once they step on the ice. Look where it got you.

Other than that, I do find this thread - as well as the excuse - rather meaningless.

Yea, ten straight gold medal game appearances at the WJC, defending Olympic champs, defending Ivan Hlinka champs, just won World u-17. Yup has'nt gotten us anywhere.

What? I don't fully agree with the whole "Blame Hockey Canada"-excuse, other than the point I just shared. So basically I agree with most of you...

And hated, disrespected, humiliated, laughed at etc etc...

It all links to the cockiness of your indoctrinated kids. And for this - you should blame your media and your fancy Hockey Canada. But for the loss? Not quite.

Well then as I said, we should just drop out of the tournament.

I can't believe that Sweden, Finland, US, Russia would want to have anything to do with the cocky Canadians.

Better idea, have your own tournament and only invite the "respected" teams.

I as a Canadian am getting sick and tired of foreign yahoos labeling us as poor sports, cocky, cheats, yadda, yadda, yadda.

God forbid you have to put up with us all these years, just drop out and start your own tournament.

I'm looking for a hint of sarcasm but I can't find it... seriously now. They played the entire tournament sans one period with "PASION,HEART.INTIMIDATION with a dash of SKILL".

Yeah, but the refs favoured us, it was played on Canadian sized ice, we had the better schedule, we had the better dressing room, we had this, we had that and everyone else got royally ****ed by us.

You've got it. We were less than 20 minutes away from threads glorifying Hockey Canada and calling them geniuses. People just can't accept that a good team beat Canada because we have a golden standard.

There was nothing wrong with the team selection (well not much anyway...) and it is not Hockey Canada's fault. We lost to an excellent hockey team and we still got silver and extended our streak of consecutive finals appearences to ten.

10 straight Gold Medal games, 13 (?) straight medals.
Geezus give the kids a break.
A bunch of teenagers had a 3rd period meltdown and a highly skilled team took advantage. That's hockey.
That's Junior hockey. I've seen 5 goal leads blown in Jr Hockey.
I'm proud of Canada's performance in the tourney and I'm in total awe of Russia's come from behind performance in the tourney. Not once but 3 times.
The hockey gods only give you so many chances and Canada has had 10 chances in a row to win gold. Sometimes the gods say NO not this time.
Congrats Russia for a gutsy performance.

You do know there is a reason there is stricter rules in place its because for years there was brutal hits from behind tons of head hits with out any rules now they have to have rules like it or not.

I think a bigger problem is grown men investing so much of their personal identity in how well a bunch of teenagers play a sport.

Lol hockey Canada is to blame for a 3rd period break down... We had no stand out stars this year, the team wasn't even a tournament favorite this year and people are upset with 2nd place, I mean come on.

That's David Branch's fault, not Hockey Canada's. If you're going to blame anyone, blame him.
