I don't know how you guys do it. I couldn't do it years ago when my YS was good and I had lower standards. The YS has been a lot better lately. No studs, but certainly useful players if you love love love strength. I still coudn't field a whole team of youth pulls. I pretty much keep any decent (and some less than decent) as my train & sells because I'm too lazy to go on the market anymore. I've only had a handful reach 200AI before they're 25yo in the last 10-15 seasons.

I've been very fortunate with my YS this time around

That and I've been way to lazy to look on the market for players. Pumped to be moving onto the II leagues finally, I dont know how I'll do, but I'm hoping to make the playoffs next season.

Made it to the I. Its the best team i've ever had so im excited to see what i can do there this time, wont be easy but who knows.

I dont even care abou youth pulls anymore, got my youth snchool back to 10% and see if i can save some money. It was completely useless anyway.

My youth school used to treat me well, not so much lately. My best recent pull was max-4. :(

My YS gave me an almost fully homegrown team that was able to get to I.1. It hasn't given me a player the caliber of a starter for 3-4 seasons, so the jury is still out if it can still be as good as it once was. Right now it looks like it might be giving me two of the four players I need for replacements next season.

It's too early to tell as the P's could be horrible on these two players.

Well, I'm not relegating, but I'm having second thoughts about that. I think this next season I'm just going to play my kids all the time and if I relegate (likely) so be it.

tujague was only in II for what, a season? It's more important to play my kids than to stay in II.

Hm.

I promoted. Jerk:p:

Holy ****. I completely missed this! That's awesome. now I have a Sponsor Pack again. I mean, Congratulations. All your hard work has finally paid off.

It's about time:m-beard:

So how good is your team compared to I.1? Any chance you make the playoffs? You have to make it so we can play some meaningful games:nod:

Hm.

I had two stints in II. The first was before the rebuild. I was out of town and missed the playoffs in III. Some jerk sandbagged me up. So I had to prove I could survive up there, then I was going to rebuild. But the jerk who bagged me promoted, so I had to fight to survive so he would have to relegate. It worked perfectly:naughty: Then I started the rebuild.

Second time through II was one season. Easy peasy, really. The top teams lost and I waltzed into the Finals.

looks like i'm gonna need an update on that front page gentlemen. won my semifinals and i'll be getting my first taste of tier III next season.

maybe if I'm feeling up to it, I'll update the list tomorrow

I was going to wait for the season change. It makes it easier to get the promotions & demotions sorted. But if you wanna take a crack at it...

1-1 in the II.2 finals against the Washington Capitals. Outshot him 40-15 or so in the first game and lost. Shots were more even the next game with an edge to me and I pulled it out on the road. At least I get one more game at home to seal the deal on Thursday.

lol@the new topic title. It really feels a bit cruel seeing as how he is a fan of the Sharks, if I am not mistaken. But I am lolling regardless.

I went back and looked at those tactical breakdowns and tried to come up with what I think would be the best distribution for a player with 300 AI with each of them. Like say how a pure defenseman needs 150 defense and 50 strength, so I thought about where the other 100 AI would best be distributed.

Sharks implies I choked. Smetana had the better team, he proved it all season.

I've got the better of him twice, so it was about time he got me back

Yes, I agree. He's had a better team since last year too, imo. Doesn't matter, you are both in I.1 now where both of your teams belong.

The tactical breakdown distributions are interesting, but they somewhat differ than what has become the prevailing wisdom of the best distributions for players at each position. So I began to look each over and try to figure out the best way to combine the skill distribution of a player profile for these tactics with the standard profile distribution for a certain position. To help in the discussion and debate, I'll post my ideas for said distributions. Feel free to add any ideas to further the thoughts in this matter.

Code:
PURE DEF
0,32 x defense + 0,64 x strength + 0,4 x experience
Max : 150 def, 50 strength, 50 EXP
[B]300 AI = 150 DEF, 25 Shooting, 30 Passing, 25 Speed, 50 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

OFFENSIVE DEF
0,35555 x defense + 0,46 x offense + 0,4 x shooting + 0,4 x experience
Max : 90 defense, 50 offense, 40 shooting, 50 experience
[B]300 AI = 90 Defense, 50 Offense, 40 Shooting, 25 Passing, 25 Speed, 50 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

CREATIVE DEF
0,284 x defense + 0,565 x passing + 0,24 x speed + 0,4 x experience
Max : 120 defense, 55 passing, 25 speed, 50 experience
[B]300 AI = 120 Defense, 30 Shooting, 55 Passing, 25 Speed, 50 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

BLUELINER DEF
0,272 x defense + 0,44 x shooting + 0,66 x passing + 0,4 experience
Max : 100 defense, 60 shooting, 40 passing, 50 experience
[B]300 AI = 100 Defense, 60 Shooting, 40 Passing, 30 Speed, 50 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

SPEEDY DEF
0,2285 x defense + 0,8 speed + 0,4 x experience
Max : 140 defense, 60 speed, 50 experience
[B]300 AI = 140 Defense, 30 Passing, 60 Speed, 50 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

PLAYMAKER OFF
0,314 x offense + 0,65 x passing + 0,5 x strength + 0,4 x experience
Max : 140 offense, 40 passing, 20 strength, 50 experience
[B]300 AI = 140 Offense, 55 Shooting, 40 Passing, 25 Speed, 20 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

CREATIVE OFF
0,4 x offense + 0,4 x passing + 0,4 x speed + 0,4 x experience
Max : 80 offense, 80 passing, 40 speed, 50 experience
[B]300 AI (Center) = 80 Offense, 45 Shooting, 80 Passing, 40 Speed, 35 Strength, 20 Self Control
300 AI (Winger) = 80 Offense, 70 Shooting, 80 Passing, 40 Speed, 10 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

POWER OFF
0,247 x offense + 0,685 x strength + 0,4 x experience
Max : 130 offense, 70 strength, 50 experience
[B]300 AI (Center) = 130 Offense, 55 Passing, 25 Speed, 70 Strength, 20 Self Control
300 AI (Winger) = 130 Offense, 50 Shooting, 30 Speed, 70 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

SPEEDY OFF
0,215 x offense + 0,867 x speed + 0,4 x experience
Max : 130 offense, 60 speed, 50 experience
[B]300 AI (Center) = 130 Offense, 55 Passing, 60 Speed, 35 Strength, 20 Self Control
300 AI (Winger) = 130 Offense, 80 Shooting, 60 Speed, 10 Strength. 20 Self Control[/B]

SNIPER OFF
0,56 x offense + 0,347 x shooting + 0,4 x experience
Max : 50 offense, 150 shooting, 50 experience
[B]300 AI (Center) = 50 Offense, 150 Shooting, 20 Passing, 25 Speed, 35 Strength, 20 Self Control
300 AI (Winger) = 50 Offense, 150 Shooting, 30 Passing, 40 Speed, 10 Strength, 20 Self Control[/B]

I didn't bother with a playmaking wing, since one isn't listed in one of the line tactics. Every one has 20 SCo added, because honestly all players should have that. It seems accepted by a few people a winger should have at least 10 strength, so I tried to add that in.

Defense was obviously easier to figure out, while forwards were a bit harder.

USA I.1
Been shopping for a new goalie all this week. No luck yet. I've got my eye on a guy this afternoon and my fingers are crossed.

If I can't get someone quick, I'm gonna head into I.1 as the Philadelphia Flyers--strong team, inadequate goaltending...

EDIT: Got my man. Now it's on to the big show :handclap:

Just got done reordering the special teams units for the NT and looked at the subs. tujague, it looks like Streeter will be 2nd in line as a sub on defense.

Looking over the roster again, I really do like the defense way more than the offense mainly due to the makeup of the wingers making me want to second-guess a few special teams decisions. I'll roll with it, and only change if the special teams aren't working as well as I'd like.

EDIT: The YP I was looking forward to is 95/65/-3. That's Max-4 with 35 DEF and 15 ATT. Useless. The next best is 87/71/+2 (max-2) 19 year old. Not bad, except this one was listed as a d-man but comes with 6 DEF and 36 SHO, and 70 STR. Looking more and more like a forward, while the other will be at defense.

However I've got some 16 y/o YS players from last season that look interesting on the switch. One is ?92/?82 with ?55 AI, the other ?85/?74 with ?50. However they are a goalie and defense respectively, so I would need to change the first one's position. Which probably would lead to a forward with stats in GOA. :help:

100/65/-. FML. I knew I shouldn't have boosted him. 76 AI though, holy ****.

What the hell do I do with this kid? :help: He's only showing 86/67, can't sell him this season. Do I just play the **** out of him? What's a realistic AI ceiling for 100/65, would he even reach 300? No, I can't play him. I think he's just gonna ride the bench for a year.

On the plus side, still feeling good about my Q predictions for 16 year olds.
