It looks like they omitted Oilers '84, Bruins '93, Hurricanes '02 and most glaringly FINLAND '95! :madfire:

I wonder if Craig Janney found his way onto the Bruins '90 team. IIRC Tikkanen made him pretty invisible. :D

I don't think there's a point to having historic teams post 1997, alot of those players are still in the league. I don't think anybody is itching to play with the 02 wings or the 01 pens. Instead they should have teams like the 1995 Flyers (ECF, first playoff in 5 years) 1982 & 1995 Nords, maybe 1988 Devils.

I wonder, will EA NHL 2006 have historic teams?

what about historic stadiums? how cool would that be. Imagine taking the 93 leafs into the forum to play the 93 habs :yo:

Historic teams with no named players? :dunno:

*sigh* :shakehead

You know already that not even EA has the money to license each player individually and that they're names are easily editible and that they're names are in the commentary database.

Its not really a big deal is what he saying. Its just players with #s. No names. I guess someone could spend hours to put every persons name on all of those teams though. Not sure how many would really do that though. I'll probably do it just for the Ranger 94 team. All the names will be in the database..correct?

I remember Lee Foligno missing from the '84 Oilers but no other that I remember right off the bat. But yeah, it does take time though (I usually do one or two teams at a time) and I also do only the teams that I plan on playing with.

Edit: and there are existing renaming guides at e.g. gamefaqs.com

No, they'll have the European club teams like previously.

I believe old arena name's are also licensed and therefore unusable. Heck they don't even have the MSG or Bosto'n arena's new name in 2K6 (don't know about 06)because of this.

Very happy about the addition of the International teams...

However, the historic NHL teams looks very vanilla, like always.

They should spice things up and add teams like the '93 Senators or Sharks, and then give each team atleast one "historic" roster. 00-01 Blue Jackets and 02-03 Wild come to mind ther

You'd be surprised.

2khockey.net

The dedicated posters there compare notes and package rosters so that all the historical teams are named, and quite accurately I might add.

PS: All names are Databased

no Whalers or Hurricanes teams? Sharks 02 over Hurricanes 02? w t f.

and yeah, I'd agree with having one of every team in the game as far as historic teams go, even if it's just the roster from the year the team was added to the league.

Wow... the 1980 USSR and 1980 USA team :amazed:

This could be the best $20 I ever spent... add another $20 for a sack and I'm set for a good weekend when this game hits the streets :)

Whalers teams are out because the rights are owned by the ownership group trying to get an NHL team back in Hartford.

it's been a snafu for years with NHL hockey games, the question comes up: where are the Whalers jerseys/teams?

The Whale will rise again!

Aren't all games by this company 19.99? If i remember right, NFL and NHL 2k5 were both 19.99.

Four more reasons why i can't wait to get this game. I've already got it on preorder, have to wait until October 7th though. Seems such a long way.

Are you sure about that October 7th date? A Finnish games importer has the date as November 25th.

it is $19.99 American, $29.99 Canadian, that's probably whet the misunderstanding is...

I can't wait, 2k sports puts out a quality hockey game every year, and this one looks like no exception.
