Welcome to HFVHL's 4th season!

HFVHL will follow the rules the NHL has implemented this season.

- This means the alignment will change and will have new divisions. Please see the image of the new divisions.
- HFVHL will follow NHL's playoff eligibility, top 4 of each division will move into the playoffs (1st seed vs 4th seed) (2nd seed vs 3rd seed).
- Players that opt out due to covid can be placed on IR for the entire season.

Important Dates

Dec. 28, 2020: Waiver period begins. (Rosters will need to be finalized by the 28th and must be cap compliant)
Jan. 13: Tentative start date for 2020-21 NHL regular season.
April 12: Expected date for the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline. (HFVHL's trade deadline will end 24 hours after the NHL)
May 8: End of 2020-21 NHL season.
May 11: Beginning of 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
July 17: Deadline for NHL teams to submit expansion draft protection lists to the Seattle Kraken (We will have more details closer to the expansion)
July 21: 2021 NHL Expansion Draft for the Seattle Kraken. (We will have more details closer to the expansion)
July 23-24: 2021 NHL Draft slated to take place. (HFVHL draft will be completed before this date)
July 28: 2021 NHL Free Agency (Again, HFVHL free agency will before the NHLs)

With the 2020-2021 season approaching, GMs may now start submitting their active rosters in the thread. Just a reminder that the roster limits are 14 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goalies, for a total of 23 players (so either 13/8/2 or 14/7/2).

At minimum, you must be able to dress 18 skaters and 2 goaltenders. Additionally, your active roster must put your team within the cap range of $60.2M - $81.5M.

Any teams that fail to meet the above requirements will face draft pick penalties, and/or a loss of pool points. If it continues to be a problem, you will be fired.

The waiver wire will open on December 28th. Any waiver-eligible players sitting in the minors will be automatically placed on waivers for any team to claim. Waiver order based on last year's standings. (will be posted a couple days before the roster deadline). Claiming a player moves you to the bottom of the list. The list will reset at the start of every month. Waiver eligibility rules are as follows CBA (Section 3.5).

The waiver exemption thresholds are as follows:
21 years and younger - 180 NHL Games Played
22 to 24 - 80 NHL Games Played
25 years and older - 1 full season under contract

If you're unsure of a specific player's waiver eligibility, don't hesitate to ask.

Minimum of 600 total GP required this season. Draft pick fine depending on how far away from the limit a team is.
