Is it crazy to say the Stankoven pick paved the way for the MacDonell pick? Not being terrified of guys on the shorter side that play bigger?

MacDonell was a 6th rounder. They've occasionally drafted smaller guys with those picks next to all those giants they also drafted and hoped would develop actual hockey skills

Cole Ully walked so Angus could run

I'll never forget one EHM sim I ran where Cole Ully ended up making the NHL as a superstar winger.

The funny part is he somehow had a growth spurt and ended up being 6'6"

Alright, you literally asked for it.

This was back in the era where if you had any music that you didn't compose yourself your video would get taken down. Note that all of this music was intrinsically linked to the original team highlight source and I lacked the ability at the time to do anything about it.

Regarding Ully, as you'll see while he has some shiftiness no one would ever call him even an average skater. But some of these plays (especially the passes) flat out rock. And respect to him for grinding in the East Coast league as long as he did.

It's nothing to be ashamed of. I would say that 10 years ago, the line between an NHLer and an AHLer was a thin one. Plenty of dudes find their way into a coach's circle of trust who didn't deserve it (like Roman Polak or Devin Shore), while others always seemed marked for nachos (we always focus on Hitch's treatment of Honka, but his hate for Jason Dickinson was actually more bizarre given how he profiled).

I'll admit I was a bit irrationally in love with Cole Ully and was kinda crushed he never moved on. Also saw Sergei Korostin live and thought there was something there and while he's carved out a career in the Russian 2nd division he's hardly worth remembering, and yet I do.
