Ohio Jones
Game on...
The Columbus Blue Jackets are in talks with the agent for star defenceman Torey Krug about a contract extension. Krug has at various times this season been not only the Jackets’ leading scorer - he currently trails Brandon Dubinsky for top spot - he has also spent much of the season as the top-scoring blueliner in the HFNHL.
While the Jackets are confident that the 26-year-old will agree to a reasonable two-year extension, rumours suggest they are checking the trade market before putting pen to paper, in case another team is interested in securing Krug’s puck-moving services.
Dubinsky, the Jackets’ do-it-all Captain, has also been rumoured to be available, but the turn-around of the Jackets’ fortunes over the past several weeks may have them looking more to the playoffs than to continuing their rebuild. Time will tell.
