Some stories circulating in Edmonton...

Paul Stastny up for grabs?
Word is a trade offer has been received for the teams top centre Paul Stastny. This might represent the first trade offer received for Stastny since GM Jeff Kirk took over the team almost 3 years ago.

While no deal is imminent, GM Kirk also didn't hang up the phone when approached with the offer so other teams are encouraged to get in on the action if interested. There doesn't appear to be a specific asking price but the team seems to be seeking more youth with the preference being young NHLers or prospects on the verge. Needless to say Stastny isn't being shopped and will not move for anything short of a very solid return.

Ales Hemsky/TJ Oshie follow-up.
A story was previously posted announcing the team was shopping Hemsky and/or Oshie. Interest for Oshie was fairly strong but nothing really came of the offers received as most were people kicking the tires. It was a different story with Hemsky however as he garnered next to no attention amidst his NHL injury issues. This may be a classic case of a player who's worth more to his team than he is on the trade market. He's currently 2nd in scoring on the Oilers with 6-8-14.

Buyers or Sellers?
Much like last season the Oilers are stuck in no-mans land in the playoff hunt. Close enough to chase the 8th seed but only a few losses away from getting left behind. There has been talk of a potential rebuild in Edmonton the last couple seasons and should the team fall out of contention this year it could actually happen. This team is full of veteran players who would be perfect for those with cup aspirations...Jason Arnott, Mike Knuble, Owen Nolan, Brad Stuart, Pavel Kubina, Kent Huskins and JS Giguere are all pending UFA's that would be the first to go. Someone like Ryan Malone or the already mentioned Ales Hemsky could also find themselves the target of a few teams.
