HFNHL NYI 2020-2021 Outlook

Thought I would join the trend and post my 2020-2021 Preview. The NYI are coming off of a confusing 2019-2020 season where we started in the bottom 5 in the east and eventually caught fire and made it to the 3rd seed in the Metropolitan division and 4th overall in the league. Ultimately ending in a first-round exit to the majestic Hurricanes.

This offseason we decided to make some difficult decisions, including getting rid of players like Mikael Granlund, Devin Shore and young Dylan Strome to focus on improving our weak prospect pool.

Long time Captain Alexander Ovechkin has been traded.

However, we are still planning on competing in 2020-2021 with a lineup consisting of

Jason Zucker – Evgeni Kuznetsov – William Nylander
Dustin Brown – Sean Monahan – Kevin Labanc
Blake Comeau – Nic Dowd – Leo Komorav
Kenny Agostino – Frederik Gauthier – Tom Kuhnhackl

Aaron Ekblad – Dimitri Orlov
Alex Goligoski – Travis Hamonic
Sam Girard – Cody Ceci

Frederik Anderson
Jonas Johansson

We believe our strengths for this year will be our Defence having 3 reliable pairs, completing our top 6 scorers.

We could still look to upgrade on back-up goaltending if the right deal is available but seems unlikely.
