Thanks for all the hard work that went into making this happen so quickly! There are a few things I've noticed though, and I could be wrong, but:

Is Carl-Johan Lerby eligible? He signed in the NHL but will stay in Sweden this year.
Flames sign defenceman Carl-Johan Lerby to entry-level contract - Sportsnet.ca

I thought the same went for Olle Alsing, who signed, but is already listed as back to Djurgårdens IF on loan for 2019-20 according to Elite Prospects. I don't see it stated in any article, though, so that could be incorrect.

Arttu Ruotsalainen is 21 and doesn't turn 22 until Oct 29. Does a Europe-based player need to be 22 already in order to be eligible?

Nikita Gusev hasn't signed yet in the NHL. He's eligible? I'm sure he is as it's a high-profile case that wouldn't slip under the radar easily, but I'm not sure I understand the rules correctly here. He doesn't have a contract to play in North America next year.

Thanks

I always rely on Brock to point me in the right direction on eligibility but I thought Gusev was eligible because he had a NHL contract last year and hasn't signed to go back to Europe yet this year. If he does before the season starts he'd go to that teams prospect list.

UFA 2nd Round of Bidding

Teams, you have until Thursday, July 11 at 11:59PM EST to increase your offers.

Send by email. Only the invited teams (in brackets) are allowed to submit new offers. If you do not submit a new offer, your previous one will be used. If you wish, you can still prioritize signings using the format from the original offer sheet (doesn't have the be the same as your original priority listing). The current leading offer is the one shown. As a reminder, you can not back out of signings as offers are final. RE: Lerby, didn't realize he was staying in Sweden as per that article. That contract will be void and he will need to wait to sign just as Joel Persson did last year.

Alsing, I can't find anything official about that, so he will stay as a signing and go through the lottery.

Ruotsalainen just went through his final year of draft eligibility in our league as a '97 and is eligible to be signed.

Gusev signed last year with Vegas in the NHL and has not signed in Europe, so he is eligible.

If not expected...did you know you could group them together to only sign 1 if you wanted? I'd assume everyone knows this option but a response like this throws me off, as if you make offers to 3 goalies as "#1 priority", you're hoping to sign all 3.

I made offers # 1 to 5 goalies, i never went higher than i thought the market valued them at so figured id be in a bidding war for some an choose. Not win em outright. Its not the end of the world none are super long term. Even if i end up winning Talbot though obviously wont be upping my offer at all. Which means Columbus could snatch him up quick.

Either way i have the cap and the roster spots so wont hurt me just means maybe money not spend elsewhere

Gusev signed last year with Vegas in the NHL and has not signed in Europe, so he is eligible.

Strange situation used to burn his ELC. They signed him. He came over and practiced. But never made it into a game. He is a RFA and wants $4million but Vegas is up against the cap, so they will probably trade him.

Can you clarify? Current result has Alsing signed outright by Columbus, so no lottery? He signed a contract with an NHL team and is returning to Europe on loan, so by rules I think that should still make him eligible, yes?

D'oh. I guess I didn't read that part in the rules. I can only find where it says that the player has to be 22.

If Alsing is indeed returning to Europe on loan, it's been our policy previously to make teams wait for teams to sign those players. We did this last year with Joel Persson. There have been other ones to that I'm sure other people can chime in on with.

As for the lottery comment, my bad, just figured he was one of our 647 lotteries...lol.

On Alsing, there are a couple Swedish articles which suggest the team certainly thinks he's being loaned back to Sweden. It isn't official, but in a sense it's never official in the off-season until the loan takes place at the start of the season. On the basis of probabilities, Alsing probably should be treated the same as Lerby (and Persson), but it's not clear cut.
