Following a disappointing playoffs, the Ducks have to make some decisions.

On the upside, we anticipate having 30 players under contract in total, so there is lots of room to add from other teams in advance of the 50 max contract limit.

The Ducks have the following UFA that we are willing to listen to offers to flip. Note the new rule of 125% increase of value in the deal.

Patrick Marleau
Mike Green
Troy Brouwer
Cam Talbot
Carl Hagelin

The Ducks plan to sign one, maybe two of the above.
---

We will be not be offering a contract to Steve Mason who didn't play anywhere in 2018-19

-----

We will be releasing/ not signing the following from our AHL/Prospects roster

Clifford Watson (AHL)
Adam Marsh (P)
Blake Heinrich (P)
Colin Sullivan (P)
Eddie Ellis (P)
Edgars Kulda (P)
Kay Schwer (P)
Mac Carruth (P)
Matthew Boucher (P)
Mitch Moroz (P)
Petr Placek (P)
Quentin Shore (P)
Scott Sabourin (P)
Travis Ewanyk (P)

----

Now the fun stuff:

Trade season is open. Everyone is on the block with the exception of:
Connor McDavid
Dmitry Orlov
Andrew Cogliano
Mikko Koskinen
Carl Dahlstrom

UPDATE:

HFNHL Ducks have sent in offers to the agents. Three upcoming free agents have not yet been signed and we are open to discuss trades. This includes Patrick Marleau, Mike Green and Carl Hagelin. Based on our inital calculations, we will have about $10 million in cap space heading into the season (before free agency and inevitable draft day trades).

As of today, the Ducks have made three offseason trades:
To Pitt: Niederreither for Wash 2019 1 (pick 23); 2019 Pitt 4 and 2021 Pit 4

To Minn: 2021 Ana 1 for 2019 Min 1 (pick 29)l 2019 Mtl 4; Calvin De Haan and Craig Smith

To Col: 2019 Mtl 4 (seen above) for Garnet Hathaway

The Ducks now have the following three first round picks in the upcoming draft: #20, 23 and 29.

DUCKS Needs:
- Two second line wingers
- Backup goalie, ideally looking for a 1B (~40 games).

On the Block:
- The aforementioned Marleau, Green and Hagelin
- Dion Phaneuf.....for those near the salary floor. Asking price is not much. Two years of contract left.
- Ryan Kesler.....see above. However, he has had his major operation in real NHL and may be on LTIR for the season. One year of contract left.

As free agency is underway, the Ducks have freed up some cap space in recent days. Currently we have about $10.7 million in cap room for the upcoming season.

If you are active in the second round bids and need to shed some space...we could be paid to take you problem away.
