Subban should be the lone #2, with Nico at #3.
I voted Hughes for #4.
Add Simmonds/Schneider.
I mean I get it, but voting for him already as our 4th best?
That doesn't mean he's bad, it doesn't mean he sucks. He's a very good player. But he's not a great player, not yet anyways.
The Devils had 72 points last year. Sounds more than accurate.
Subban is a very good player too, but he isn't great neither. People and media overrate him constantly. Not wanted in MTL, not wanted in NSH. I've seen a ton of Preds games over the last few years and PK is a spectacular player, but he isn't a reliable #1.
Especially last year, he had his brainfarts more regularly and was a liability far too many times for a Norris winner.
Thankfully, a strong Ekholm could bail him out most of the time.
It fills a huge need for the Devils so I'm fine with the aquisition.
I'm pretty sure Nico will have a better season than him though.
How is that even something that can be defined? Points? Corsi?
I did, I understand why people wouldn't, but I watched about 10 of his games last year, at the various levels, and ya, I think he's good enough to be voted 4th.I mean I get it, but voting for him already as our 4th best?
I would say as in most valuable but I'm not sure what the poll is based on.
Or maybe leaguewide ranking by position..
Add Zajac. Always add Zajac even if he's already been included.Palmieri, Zajac, Severson, Hughes in that order for me.
After that, I have no idea.
Add Greene
It is. I love Nico and he's a fine player with #1C potential. But the way some people talk about him you'd think he's Ron Francis.
Truth is that there are a lot of 50 point centers out there and Nico still has a lot of work to do if he wants to be an elite center in this league. I think he'll get there. He's only 20 and there's still plenty of room for him to grow. But, so far, what he's shown just simply isn't up to par with the greats of the game.

I hope everyone is bookmarking these threads.see this I don't agree with
Nico Hischier has been close to an elite ES player his first 2 years in the league. As an 18/19 year old, thats pretty crazy to think about. Especially when you consider how good he already is defensively.
His ES production has been better than the following the past 2 years:
Jack Eichel
Mark Scheifele
Mikko Rantanen
Logan Couture
Brayden Schenn
Tyler Seguin
Blake Wheeler
Tomas Hertl
Jake Voracek
Anze Kopitar
and thats just a few.
The reason he hasn't been putting up 70+ points is because he hasnt been a great PP player to date, and part of that is because the Devils havent exactly had a great PP Overall. He only has 17 PP points in his career.
