Gio. Add McAvoy.

edit: Thought a LOT about picking Jones here.

edit 2: Yeah, changing to Jones. Gio was better last year, but that doesn't mean it will be the case this year.

How tf is Giordano about to be 5th after a slam dunk Norris win? I’d expect nothing less from this place.

Wow ummm Burns lmao, talk about actually ranking defenseman when this guy is basically a forward playing on the blue line.

Heh, there's already Karlsson as 2nd best DEFENDER.. :)
Karlsson isn't a defensive liability like Burns. His speed is his best asset at defense so it may be why people have noted it hasn't been as great as before however he is still not a defensive liability. Here's also a chart showing the contributions of Karlsson vs Burns.

It’s because he had one good year where he was barely better than Burns. And then come playoff time in that same year, he got wrecked by MacKinnon and the Avalanche; meanwhile, Burns also went up against the Avalanche and scored twice as many points as MacKinnon.

I'm guessing you used the "he never watched that team play card" since you don't have a proper argument?

The proper argument is that Burns is not basically a forward playing on the blue line.

That was easy.

Not sure where he'd fall on the list but people are sleeping on Josh Morrissey. I'd rank him ahead of Buff. There's certainly a few names on the suggested list who have already regressed quite a bit but have name recognition for past accomplishments.

Burns has been top-2 in defensive scoring for the last 5 years (in 2018 he had 1 point less than Carlson, and it would've been 3 years in a row as #1). I think every team would want him on their blue line.

Yes last year was the only year Giordano was ever any good. Finally an unbiased opinion. He was mediocre for two years under Gulutzan but the three years prior to that he was a Norris contender and likely would have won at least one, maybe two if not for his seasons being cut short due to injury

Also in a poll for who is the best defenseman right now, there’s a pretty good argument to be had for the guy who was the best defenseman last year

Burns should be higher too

Karlsson doesn’t deserve to be voted that high after the past two seasons. Hell even Doughty didn’t play like a top tier D last year.

Jones and Giordano are the runaway top two at this point.

Went with Jones. I expect greatness from him. Giordano had a great season, too, and it's not wrong to pick him. Either way it's these two next. They are also both better than EK65.

Hampus needs to get in the voting.
