Voted Ekholm. It’s getting close to putting Dahlin, Heiskanen, Chabot in here. All 3 will probably be better than a chunk of this list next year.

For me, it's between Ekholm vs McAvoy. Went with McAvoy, because I think he'll have a good year.

Dahlin, Heiskanen, Chabot and McAvoy I take above the veteran options here. Homer voted McAvoy, but with young D its a crap shoot*. Of those 4 McAvoy has proven it deeper in the playoffs, but not to say the others couldn't or wouldn't.

I get the Ekholm votes, he is coming off a career year offensively, but (perhaps unfairly) I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt. His 5 on 5 points numbers nearly double his pervious career high. Those secondary assist numbers are especially dubious. Tied with McDavid, Rantanen and Barkov in 5 on 5 secondary assists. Seems hard to duplicate. A very very very very good d-man. Not trying to dump on him... but I don't think he magically got THAT much better offensively.

*Case in point, how high were Provy and Werenski on this list last year?

Hell, even Parayko or OEL. Chabot and McAvoy are absolutely better overall d-men than #15-19.
