Probably because people actually watch games instead of advanced stats. There are arguments for Pesce and Ekholm being the 3rd best defenders on their respective teams (before the Subban trade), but you expect them too have gone in the top 18?

Ekholm or Parayko. I'd definitely take Ekholm over Parayko for the Habs but that's mostly based on need.

I can get behind this re: Ekholm, but Pesce plays in my team's division and he's more impressive than Slavin every single time I've seen him.

ekholm is the reason no one noticed subban's decline until this year

Spurgeon is a better Dman than Dumba, who missed 50 games last year. I don't see how he can be considered ahead of Spurgeon(82gp) when he literally didn't show up to the majority of his team's games.
