HFBoards Top 20 NHL Goaltenders - #1

As with the other top player polls, we'll do this with goaltenders as well.

The first 20 options have been chosen based on a combination of 2018-2019 stats and my prerogative. They are listed alphabetically.

Please let me know who you think should be added to the poll options. I'll keep a log. I don't expect to add many, if any, players though, since we're only doing top 10.

How many do you want to do?

31 is too many for goaltenders - there aren't 31 starting caliber goalies. 20, maybe, but I've already committed to running at least 103 polls, so I don't think it's unreasonable to stop at 10 for goalies.

Gibson, but this might be the worst top goalie in a long time. He's shown consistency year to year, which very few goalies have.

Just so many people that you could argue, but none of them are a slam dunk.

The field is probably as wide open as it's ever been, but I would still take Price going into the season. He had his issues in '18 and early last year but turned it around and looked again like an elite goalie. I still don't think anyone can bring his combination of technique and athleticism and his puck skills are a plus as well. Gibson, Bob and Vasi probably all have cases as well.

He had one subpar year.

Since 2013 the only goalie who can even sniff the numbers Bobrovsky has put up is Lundqvist.

And Bobrovsky is closer to Lundqvist than third place is to Bobrovsky.

Price is a good goaltender, don't get me wrong, but the idea that he's the best in the world is a complete fiction written by Montreal fans and the Canadian media.

Bobrovsky has had a significantly better career.
