Bergeron had a better points per game than MacKinnon and is... Bergeron defensively. Don't know how he's still this underrated, but he is.

And if he does, then maybe that calculation needs to be re-examined to see why it would come to that conclusion.

Oh, the calculation says it alright. Dom didn’t misquote them or anything. (Though he did use a 3-year sample which includes 2016-2017 which was a terrible year for everybody on Colorado.)

The question is, how much value does the calculation really have? If it says that Couturier is a better offensive player than MacKinnon, it shouldn’t be referred to as a sole piece of evidence, in my mind.

That's my point. I'm not saying the actual calculation is wrong, but the interpretation/meaning of the calculation needs re-evaluating to see how much it actually means if that's what it's trying to tell you.

It was also a massive outlier for him, only over 3/4 of the season, and was partially driven by a spike in both personal and ES on-ice shooting percentages, while MacKinnon has produced at a similar level for 2 seasons now. 2017-18 was the second best PPG season of Bergeron's career after this one and MacKinnon outscored him by 34 points in only 10 more games. Also, while both have great linemates, it's clear that MacKinnon is the main offensive driver of his line while Bergeron isn't.

No one except McDavid and Crosby can dominate the game like Malkin. Those injuries though.. Tough to pick between him and MacKinnon.

I know he had an off year, but was still ppg nonetheless. And the year prior, he almost hit 100 points. I expect a bounce back year if he can get his shit together. He’s arguably the most productive center not named Mcdavid or Crosby, never count him out

It's not 2010 anymore. He 's had only had one 73+ point season out of the last 7. Oh and he was 46th in points last season. He's not a top 3 center in the league anymore lol

And we're only a season removed from that year, where he was arguably the best player in the league in the second half. Also, in the 5 seasons before this past year, his lowest PPG finish was 7th

He’s had injuries in about every seasons over the last 7 years or so, but when he’s playing , he’s definitely one of the most productive center. Since 2015-16, he’s the 3rd most productive center (per game) in the league.

1. McDavid : 1,30 ppg
2. Crosby : 1,15 ppg
3. Malkin : 1,13 ppg
4. Stamkos : 1,06 ppg
5. Barkov : 0,99 ppg
