McDavid vs California teams last year:

9GP 8G 12A 20P

For as much as you want to bitch about the North being a "weak" division, your team is in one that featured 5 of the bottom 11 teams in the league last season.

McDavid would absolutely shred the West.

I wish we were still in the Pacific. We’d be comfortably the 2nd best team in that division as well.

I watched the Ducks v Wild game the other night, it was slow unskilled hockey all around. Nothing like the speed and offensive skill we see from the top teams in the North.

This whole GDT is basically one guy projecting the Canucks shitty play with other teams in division.

well you said teams making it far in the playoffs dont count as contenders...when thats literally what a contender is. Work on your reading comprehension chump. I can't dumb this down any more for you its as simple as it gets
You’re comparing a Stanley cup champion to teams who didn’t even make the finals. You might need to work on your comprehension here bud

He most definitely wouldn't...Cali teams are boring AF, but what makes them boring is the ultra defensive mechanics and systems they play in. They have a better chance of winning if they're able to trap the neutral zone. As someone who's had to watch all these teams play against the precious Oilers, you're quite naive in your overall analyse.

Sorry mate, war is lost.

Even if he struggled against California (he doesn't), he would at least get to play Colorado and he's 11-12-23 in 13 games against those bums

Lmao these aren't the Cali teams of 3 years ago, they are not good hockey teams period.

McDavid last 2 seasons against Cali teams:
2019-20: 9GP - 20P = 2.22PPG
2018-19: 12GP - 16P = 1.33PPG

McDavid last 2 seasons against Canadian teams:
2019-20: 16GP - 21P = 1.31PPG
2018-19: 17GP - 26P = 1.52PPG

These posters are all the same. No where to be found to reply to posts that plain as day disprove their awful hot takes. And around and around we go.

Funny how he still hasn't said anything, since actual factual stats were laid out on him.

These Oilers fans brought receipts, hope there's a return policy on mics.
That Cali swing hasn’t been relevant for awhile now, San Jose puts up a good fight but even I wouldn’t say that McDavid wouldn’t produce against them

bold of you to assume he got invited to parties.

Two bad teams x 473

I guess the Flames lost back to backs by a score of 9-2 to a bad team this past weekend then
Hard to get invited when most gatherings happen at your place, Edmonton just happens to be one of the better bad teams in a bad division :naughty:

When you play Edmonton you have one of Draisaitl or McDavid on the ice for 30+ minutes at 5v5 then both players are on the ice for the entire PP. It's just a constant onslaught, it's tough to gain any momentum because the those players are always in your end. Similar story with Toronto and Winnipeg. Calgary's top two lines each have a duo who are near PPG players in recent seasons. Even Vancouver and Montreal have decent talent on their top two lines, better than a number of teams in the Pacific for example. There's a lot of talent in the North Division, that's not difficult to see.

That’s exactly what makes it the worst division, the top offensive players are getting inflated numbers due to constantly playing poor defensive teams. Not a single team in the North has been considered a playoff threat for at least 11 years .
So the bad defense is given all the attention? You can't give the credit to great offense? The North also have highly regarded goalies in Hellebuyck, Markstrom, Price, Andersen.

I think it's an easy cop out to blame it all on defense. Great offensive players can also develop their 2-way game and have a greater impact on both ends of ice which can also positively impact their respective team.

Teams like Toronto and Edmonton who are often noted as bad defensive teams have certainly done a much better job this year, regardless of who they've played. Ofcourse it has to be sustained over the year, and we'll have to see how it plays out but right now fans should definitely be happy and not made to feel like they're just winning bc it's bad competition.
